johnjanessr Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Trying to make a cowl hood. Used tamiya white putty and tried squadron products green putty. Not to happy with the turn out.
Ace-Garageguy Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 (edited) Bondo "Professional" 2-part (catalyzed) glazing putty. Available in smaller tubes too. This is the real deal. Learn how to use it, you won't be disappointed. Get it at the real-car parts store near you. johnjanessr Posted February 7, 2015 Author Posted February 7, 2015 So regular automotive body filler and glaze will work?
Ace-Garageguy Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Yup. Regular "bondo" in the big cans is really too coarse in my opinion. Use 2-part finishing glaze. I used to swear by USC Icing (I build real cars and always have it in stock) but the Bondo Brand stuff shown above is even finer-grained and comes in small packages.
johnjanessr Posted February 7, 2015 Author Posted February 7, 2015 Ok thanks ill go get the glaze out of the garage. Thanks for your help.
64SS350 Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 (edited) WRP(Wilde Racing Products) makes nice hood scoops of styrene, 1 pr. for like $4. I use them a lot. I also use the two part glazing and the MMD green putty on my builds, judge for yourself. Well , I've tried several times and methods to upload some pics for you, but to no avail, I'm still having issues with file size and Photobucket. If you want to see some of these as finished, PM your email. Karl Edited February 7, 2015 by 64SS350
High octane Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 I also like the Bondo Professional Glazing & Spot Putty, works good!
