Petetrucker07 Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Any of you Arizona guys know of a decent hobby shop in the Phoenix area. I know Google would work but I'm wanting to hear from people who actually know. Oh, I'm a truck driver, so I would need parking some what close to shop.
martinfan5 Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Here are just a few Hobby Town USA , 3401 West Greenway Road, Phoenix, AZ 85053 Hobby Depot , 216 West Southern Avenue, Tempe, AZ 85282 Then you have Hobby Bench which are located at , 8058 N 19th Ave, Phoenix , and 4240 W Bell Rd , Phoenix .
Danno Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Clayton, The HobbyTownUSA at 3401 W. Greenway Road has half-a-city-block of parking lot. You could park a fleet of semis there! And, it's where we'll be holding Desert Scale Classic on April 11. Slip over for that, if you get a chance. Actually all the shops Jon mentioned have room for semi parking, but HTU on Greenway has more than all the rest combined. Plus, you can do a little indoor kart racing, R/C racing, slot car racing, or slot drag racing while you're there! Have a safe trip, and c'mon over!!

Petetrucker07 Posted February 8, 2015 Author Posted February 8, 2015 Thanks fellas. I've been to the Hobby Lobby in Tolleson. I've been wanting to stop by a real hobby shop out there. The company is out there quite a bit. So, I'm out there quite often. We have loads going up to Superior all the time. I've stopped by the Hobby Lobby in Tolleson. We stay in Goodyear, so just about anywhere is along the way. I'm gonna try to make plans to get out to that show in April. My problem is transporting a build or 2 that far. I could go just to enjoy the sights and meet some other builders.
my80malibu Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 You can stray a little farther out,to visit Hobby depot in Tempe.
martinfan5 Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 You can stray a little farther out,to visit Hobby depot in Tempe. I do wish it was not a 40 minute drive for me to get there.
Quick GMC Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 You can stray a little farther out,to visit Hobby depot in Tempe. Do they have a lot of kits? I might be in Tempe soon

Petetrucker07 Posted February 8, 2015 Author Posted February 8, 2015 I do wish it was not a 40 minute drive for me to get there. That's my problem out here. The only decent shop is an hour or so drive from my house. I need to make plans to go there and go other places while I'm down there. Next weekend the wife and I are planning on heading down there. I get to go to the Hobby shop and she gets to go to the big mall. It has to be a give and take. She'll tough it out and I'll tough out. But in Az, I can kinda hang out for a few. I'll be out there tomorrow afternoon, I need to decide where I'm gonna go first.
Petetrucker07 Posted February 8, 2015 Author Posted February 8, 2015 (edited) Ontario mills or Victoria gardens. Probably Ontario mills. It has the Disney store, we got a little boy on the way in June. I'm gonna be heading to Pegasus in Montclair next weekend. I'll be in the Phoenix area tomorrow afternoon. Greg Myers Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Andy's @ 59th ave and Greenway road. Clayton, being a truck driver and all, I'm surprised you didn't say what part of Phoenix. It's a BIG place. Then there's the connecting communities, Glendale, Chandler, Scottsdale, Mesa, Tempe. Paradise Valley, and many more. Most of what we've given you is North West Phoenix.
my80malibu Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 IMHO, Hobby Depot is superior to Hobbytown, however driving through town here. Hobbytown would most likely be closer. Decisions, decisions.
Petetrucker07 Posted February 8, 2015 Author Posted February 8, 2015 (edited) I can take any of the freeways to get to Goodyear from Superior for the most part. So the whole valley is on the way pretty much. Edited February 8, 2015 by Petetrucker07
Danno Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Andy's has ZERO room for a semi. It's tough enough negotiating that parking lot with a four-wheeler sedan.
Petetrucker07 Posted February 8, 2015 Author Posted February 8, 2015 I'll probably check out Hobby Town. Sounds like they have a lot there.
my80malibu Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Hobby depot is about two feet is from the 60 freeway. Coming in from Superior, You will be right there.1 right turn, then 1 left. Chances are your wife won't even realize what your doing, until it's too late.
Petetrucker07 Posted February 8, 2015 Author Posted February 8, 2015 She won't be with me. That's kinda why I was gonna finally stop out there. Whatever I get out there I have to figure out how to get it in the house.
my80malibu Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Even better I always say "no sense in taking sand to the beach".
Petetrucker07 Posted February 9, 2015 Author Posted February 9, 2015 I sneak a few things by her. But ebay, that's another story. I'm not hone when the mail comes, so she knows before I do. I'm lookin forward to stopping by a few places other than HL.
Petetrucker07 Posted February 9, 2015 Author Posted February 9, 2015 I was able to get by Hobby Depot. Ed is cool guy, friendly and nice to deal with. His prices are a bit steep but I kinda expected that. Got few things I couldn't around my house. I'll be trying to stop by Hobby Town in the future. Thanks for info guys.
