crazyrichard
time for the fidely small details > added 2 doorhandles a side mirror , i wanted to hang it upside down from the top of the door but this was the only one i had and then it would have faced backwards or sit on the right side .. so i had to put it like a reaguilar mirror sits and added a grille shell ornament ....its not ment for that dont know what it was for found it in my stash and it just asked to be put on the grilleshell things left to do : 1. make a steering rod from the side of the cab (with a tumbler) 2. add wiring to the headlights 3. make bakelines to the front brakes then it will be done and fully detailed ... first time i think i really got in almost every detail ... i wish i would have made the trunk so it could open .. then i could have made a fuell tank there and a battery .. now they kind of are there in my mind .. but next time i will do that Edited March 20, 2015 by crazyrichard
crazyrichard
made the steering linkage etc, this morning , went for a external steering linkage and arm on the cab .. i didnt have anything that was the right thickness for the rods , so the only stuff that was right where steel pins .. sadly way to short so i had to extend them .. used superthin copper plate .. could be like a adjuster the rod with styrene o ends

crazyrichard
thnx blair !!!! just started some cleaning and toutching up ... went in with chrome , i didnt like the arm on the cab weathered so i painted that chrome together with the bushes then painted the headlight rings (the small rings on the front) chrome and left the housing weathered , cool contrast and make the head lights pop more also went in with chrome on the headers , they where silver grey with a wash .. now with chrome i highlighted the top parts , more like chrome lines along the pipes like if they are reflecting

wayne swayze
Lots of nice touches on this! I like that you're adding a bit of "shine" into the car with the chrome. What do you use to do that?
crazyrichard
thnx wayne , well we call that gamma chrome (dutch modelbuilders do( ... gamma is a diy market / store here in holland ... and they have their own brand of rattle cans ... gamma brand .. the silver metallic just looks so chrome ... its such cooool stuff .. always sprays 100% good , never even had any orange peel look , no wrinkles .. stuf is soooo thin its almost like chrome water when you spray it into a bowl out of the can .. just stays watery for a long long time and you can take all the time and brush it on parts by hand .. or and thats how i do it .. take a wooden meat stick (the thin sate ones) with a point on one side and dip it in the paint ans apply it on your parts .. i have used it so often now i have like a way to apply it .. i put like a drop on the point of the stick and just make it flow in the part ... for tiny parts i take less and just tip them ... stuff like bolts and dash knobs , wheel nuts are tiny and this stuff with this technique of aplying always works 100% this said .. they recently changed cans , like a new looking can ... and while that still spray's like chrome out of the can .. its very hard to use a brush or stick .. its just not the same in a weird way ... i still have a old can and that works great but thats running low now ... maybe its just me ....or that one can plus is .. its so easy .. its there when you need it , no mixing no filling a airbrush .. just spray and done and a can last ages and ages .... i also use the filling primer as primer from that brand , same as black and stuff .. also works flawless every time .. my mercury is painted with gamma rattle cans > black semigloss as base with 3 layers of clear coats from the gamma brand i have a very very nice airbrush set up and still never used it ... gamma primer unsanded gamma semi gloss black gamma high gloss clear coat

misterNNL
You might consider using a thin piece of wire as the mounting arm for your "peep"mirror. Then mount a small mirror to that arm.I would suggest predrilling a very small dia hole for the mounting arm to fit into. This is a great model.you have made some great decisions on parts, paint and stance. Thanks for sharing the journey with us!
