angelo7 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Can this type of setup back to a dock or anywhere? Or is it only forward all the time?
cappy625 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 a set up like that is mostly a terminal to terminal run. not much backing up. once at the terminal the unit is separated then back into the dock one at a time by a yard jockey or reconnected to another rig headed to another destination. but once at a truck show/rodeo I did see a driver back up a set of doubles. but never a set of triples.
Petetrucker07 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 If the driver knows what he's doing, yes.it takes awhile, but can be done. I've done it. I've backed doubles into loading docks.
landman Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 I've seen a guy pull up into a rest area withy a set of doubles only to dicsover it didn't have another entrance. He had to separate, back them unto the highway shoulder, reconnect and move on. He wasn't a happy camper.
Petetrucker07 Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 The way I was taught, if your gonna drive a truck, you better know how to back it up.
gatorincebu Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 I watched a video on U-tube of a guy backing up a road train down under! Muct be a real pita though! Be Well Gator
Mackvision Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I agree with Clayton,a set of doubles CAN be backed up,not the easiest thing in the world to do,but not imposible either. I drove a wrecker when I was younger, and have actually backed a tractor/trailer behind the wrecker into many a shop....................................Mark
trick my mixer Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I can back up any combination around until they decide to go their own way.....LOL!!!!
Petetrucker07 Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 (edited) Here's doubles backing. The last 2 trucks are doubles. The last truck Tim Alhorns did an article about that company in this month's MCM issue.http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SyWcgdydDzY Here's a video of what I drive everday, in a working competition. Actually the year of this video I was suppose to be there, in that contest but the truck had engine issues and was in the shop.http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=o__Jt19Gcms Edited February 13, 2015 by Petetrucker07
