Snake45 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Besides those issues, the stubby looking front end, grille that looks too tall and the mis shaped rear bumper killed that kit for me. To me, the trunk area also looks too long and the side window openings look too short in height giving the body a thick look. I didn't even buy it to look at it. Everyone kept saying that it looks better with paint and foil on it. But, I just don't see it. I may get a couple now for parts donors for my MPC and JoHan 'Cuda's. Built ones I've seen definitely look better than their first two tries at this car, but I keep thinking there's something just not right about the finished look of the thing. Haven't been able to put my finger on what it is. I'm gonna take another look at these areas you mention. As you suggest, there might be enough usable stuff in the kit to convert the JoHan '71 and/or the AMT '74 snapper/promo body into a decent looking '70.
Jaguar man 21 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 I've built the revell e type apart from the big gap between the two halves of the body it's a nice kit
Jaguar man 21 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 (edited) The amt 1973 mustang was very disappointing for me , I wanted to build a replica of my dad's first car a red 73 mach 1 with a 351 clevland and a black viynal roof but it's way to inacurate for me to try very similar to this one Edited February 14, 2015 by Jaguar man 21
Atmobil Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Does the AMT 34 Ford 3 window share anything with the 34 5-window and tudor kits?
Monty Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 (edited) I've built the revell e type apart from the big gap between the two halves of the body it's a nice kit I gave Revell kudos for tooling up some nice suspension & engine pieces, but when the ejector pin marks start looking like stray bullet holes, marring otherwise nicely done pieces, it's hard to maintain enthusiasm. Did you happen to get one without pock marks? I wonder if all 1/25 / 1/24 E-type kits assemble the same way. From the ones I've seen built, It seems to take more experience or talent than I've got to merge the upper and lower halves seamlessly. Edited February 14, 2015 by Monty
Jaguar man 21 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Mine had a few marks I'd love to post pictures but that build is no longer, darn klutziness
Steven W Zimmerman Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 AMT 40 Plymouth, left grille is nowhere NEAR a mirror image of the right grille. Openings for the grille in the body are off, also.
mrknowetall Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Does the AMT 34 Ford 3 window share anything with the 34 5-window and tudor kits? Nothing. And that's a good thing.
