Mr mopar Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 Has anybody used one of these to strip paint from model car? if what did the surface look like after?
Jantrix Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 Based upon the cost involved it would not be anything I'd be interested in. Chemical stripping is miles cheaper and easier. http://www.micromark.com/paasche-air-eraser-mini-sandblast-gun-set,9117.html
jwrass Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 Doug, I own a air eraser that I use for etching glass as part of the glue chipping process. I have in fact used it to strip paint on hard to reach area's on chassis joints It also leaves a very nice even finish with gives a very nice tooth for primer. I agree with Rob they are costly. However my purchase was not intended for use with modeling. They are a nice tool to have in the arsenal. Hope this helps!!! J.W."Rass"
afx Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 I wonder if an old Paasche airbrush could be converted to an Air Eraser?
Longbox55 Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 The innards are different. The air erasers are like a small sandblaster, and have a ceramic insert in them to prevent the abrasive from wearing the housing. No needle in them, it's pretty much wide open. HF has a similar air eraser that's much cheaper http://www.harborfreight.com/air-tools/paint/air-eraseretching-kit-69277.html
