Scalper Posted March 11, 2015 Author Posted March 11, 2015 Hello . .Did some more work last night.. Almost done the the engine bay.. still have to paint the white for the jugs and the cap.. did the panel lines. and did the first pass on the window trim tell me what you think. Thanks for looking.
kelson Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Nice work so far,are you just going to clearcoat the body?,it looks a little dull in the pictures.
Scalper Posted March 12, 2015 Author Posted March 12, 2015 Thanks. I never used a clearcoat or polish yet. I was thinking of polishing the body when I get some.
Ron Hamilton Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Thanks. I never used a clearcoat or polish yet. I was thinking of polishing the body when I get some. Personally, I would polish it out with pads and Novus #2 if I were not going to paint it. A clearcoat on the bare plastic would make it look a little muddy.
Scalper Posted March 12, 2015 Author Posted March 12, 2015 Thanks for the Tip Ron. it will be another first for me.
Scalper Posted March 14, 2015 Author Posted March 14, 2015 (edited) Hello.. Did a little work on the taillights. .just did half to see if I like. looks like I will be doing the other half the same. here is a pic dont know why photo bucket keeps rotating my pics even after i edit them. frustrating. Thanks for looking. Edited March 14, 2015 by Scalper
Scalper Posted March 15, 2015 Author Posted March 15, 2015 Might get this one done tonight.. Lets hope.. cause I am being asked to finish my T-bird by April .
Scalper Posted March 15, 2015 Author Posted March 15, 2015 Just finished the back inside hatch trim with a sharpie. Thanks for looking.
Hawk312 Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Looking great Andre!! Nice detail on that dash! I built this kit years ago,i think the front end sits a little high and the front fascia needs a little fiddling to look right.but otherwise its a nice kit, another member on here Hawk 312 I believe built this same kit in Jamaica yellow and it looked stunning ,if you use the search button you might be able to find it. Here is my version. As you can see, I had some trouble fitting the front nose on it. Just a heads up for you. I`ll also include a pic of the tailights you were asking about, but it looks like you have that pretty much under control.
Scalper Posted March 15, 2015 Author Posted March 15, 2015 Thanks David.. I will test fit the nose for sure.. Might just even use white glue at first. Love the paint on yours.. looks killer. I want to do another like this but in yellow like yours but black top.
christian-w Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 Wow! The yellow one looks awesome! Look at the great dashboard! Maybe you'll put it into a gallery under glass ? Andre. I'd like to say: the back lights looking very good! I don't know, how long it had last but it is worth it. Maybe you'll give your Firebird a nice paintjob. At least just clear coat. The kit would deserve it.
Scalper Posted March 16, 2015 Author Posted March 16, 2015 Thanks Christian. I am not going to clear it. But I will polish it one day. Got the front end on last night. And hopefully tonight I will have the back end on. Thanks for the feedback
Scalper Posted March 17, 2015 Author Posted March 17, 2015 (edited) Current Progress . Still need to fix the left front wheel.. touch ups. mount the huge rear spoiler. not sure about the spoiler though, don't really like it. Decals. door locks maybe door handles? a good cleaning. and someday some polish. Thanks for looking. Edited March 17, 2015 by Scalper
o-man Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Would toothpast work as a polish? yes! Or anything you use to polish your other models
christian-w Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 It is nice! The rear light looking really great! I'd paint the door handles gloss black and than it'll be ok. In my opinion. The fact, that I don't like that huge rear deck spoiler either, I would put it so the Firebird. It looks a little naked without it. But this spoiler looks much better than that rubberthing on my Formula
Scalper Posted March 19, 2015 Author Posted March 19, 2015 Thanks Christian.. like your collection . I put the rear spoiler on. looks a bit better. but still not a fan.. The last Generation of T/A dont look good to me.
Scalper Posted March 22, 2015 Author Posted March 22, 2015 Engine Bay completed. She's almost done.. Thanks for looking.
christian-w Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 It's a kind of funny, when I look into the engine bay Why? When I look into the compartment on my real car, there is not half as much space between the cylinder head and wheel house. Who knows, where the problem is here. When you look at the engine of AMTs counter part, the engine of Monograms Pontiac looks like they took the 1/25 of AMT and put it in the Monogram kit (1/24) Interessting btw. Thank you I like Firebirds.
Scalper Posted March 25, 2015 Author Posted March 25, 2015 (edited) What is the correct colour for the locks?. I see some in black andsome in silver fomr pictured from the web Edited March 25, 2015 by Scalper
Hawk312 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 What is the correct colour for the locks?. I see some in black andsome in silver fomr pictured from the web I`ve had 6 3rd gens so far, and all of them had semi-gloss black locks. You mean the door locks on the outside of the door right? Looking forward to seeing it finished! I always liked these in forrest green.
Scalper Posted March 26, 2015 Author Posted March 26, 2015 She's under glass. I blacked BMF the door handles and painted the locks black.
christian-w Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 (edited) ...and I say, that black is ok. My Firebird has them black too. Door handles and locks. EDIT: looked for the link to the gallery http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=100424#entry1394243 Edited March 26, 2015 by christian-w
