wheaton79chris Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Attempting the salting methods used on YouTube. All the water does is bead up and run off and the salt won't stick. Got down a primer coat and using the finest mist I can get from this spray bottle. What am I doing wrong???????????????
southpier Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 don't touch the stuff myself, but it sounds like surface tension. maybe add a drop of dishwashing detergent to your misting water?
Jeff Johnston Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 I don't use water. I spray a base coat and when ts still tacky put the salt directly on the paint.
Pim Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Its actually better that you use a heavier mist it helps the salt stick more effectively
Ben Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Try using hair spray instead, mist some hair spray on from a good distance back so you get a rough spray hitting the model. Let it dry, paint the model then rub the surface. Wherever the hair spray landed, the paint will come off.
BubbaJoe Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 use hairspray add the salt before it dries ..then your next color coat..works better if you use acrylic .water base paint... once the top coat is dry.. rub the paint with your finger ..it will loosen the salt under the paint.. use water and q tip... work the water over the paint..the water will penentrate the acrylic paint and soften both the hairspray and salt...use the q tip and tooth pick to chip the paint.. there are many videos on u tube demonstrating this method.. doc cranky has a few ..really very good
LoneWolf15 Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Find another spray bottle that puts out a finer spray ...... Also , spray from a farther distance from the body .
