B-Train Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Is it ok to use a fine polishing compound on pearl paints? Thanks for any suggestions
B-Train Posted March 11, 2015 Author Posted March 11, 2015 The paint I'm using is Tamiya TS white pearl if that matters.I don't have any orange peel but the gloss seems a little dull.I will be clear coating should I just wait to polish then?
Danno Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Best to clear coat and polish out the clear. You can do serious damage to pearls (and metallics) by polishing the actual color coat.

cobramike Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 (edited) I just finished painting my 66 Fairlane with Testors one coat Lacquer #1833 with 4 coats, then I clear coated that with 2 coats of Testors Lacquer 1834m I did lightly sand between coats with 12000 cloth. B-Train Posted March 11, 2015 Author Posted March 11, 2015 Thanks guys.I wasn't sure if the fine polish would cut the paint enough to harm it like wet sanding would.I appreciate the tips. Thanks again.
