MGL Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Hello, I found this forum while looking for parts for a build and just lurking here for the past few weeks and seeing some of the work here I was inspired to try a little harder. Thanks for all the great tips you guys have given me even if you didn't know it. My job has me falling off the face of the earth for months at a time but I will be around when I can.
StevenGuthmiller Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Welcome Mark! Are you an astronaut? Steve
jbwelda Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 good to see another west coaster, hey now that Berkeley ace hardware on university is gone, what are the good hobby shops in the area? jb
MGL Posted March 12, 2015 Author Posted March 12, 2015 Steve, Man I wish, could you imagine the tools you would have access to at NASA? I'm in the Coast Guard, just transferred to one of the ships here. It's funny how in the movies when people in the military are working on things they have all the latest and greatest tools but when I send somebody after a 1/2 inch wrench they inevitably come back with a 15 inch crescent wrench because its the only thing they can find. JB, besides the Hobby Lobby in Concord, the only place I've found is Hobbies Unlimited in San Leandro. They seem to be about the same as most internet sources and the remember you after one or two visits so I try to buy from them whenever possible.
jbwelda Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 might look into Kit and Kiboodle in El Cerrito, just north of berzerkly on 80. not sure if it is still there but they used to have a nice selection and some seldom seen kits too. jb
