LDO Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 I think it would be a cool idea. Lots of options for box stock, maybe a second category for modified/kitbashed. Why, shoot, I might even get one finished.
Jantrix Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 I think at the very least a CBP would be in order.
LDO Posted March 12, 2015 Author Posted March 12, 2015 This kit could be a huge seller. Revell is working with aftermarket suppliers who will offer parts specifically for it. I think a magazine contest could be a good promotional tool for Revell. They may even donate prizes. One category could be for cars that use the aftermarket parts made with Revell's cooperation.
horsepower Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 With this kit AND all of the expected do dads rumored to be released I might even get a build finished, adding a photo contest might become more incentive.
southpier Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 not to make an administrative nightmare for someone whose initials are LDO, but if it became a contest, there should be a published list of acceptable (& available) aftermarket parts & suppliers. this way no one can say "he won because of parts i didn't know were around yet" - 'cause ya know sumbuddy will!
LDO Posted March 12, 2015 Author Posted March 12, 2015 I'm not sure what the LDO comment means, but the initials stand for long distance operator. It was a screen name I gave myself when I was an M1A1 tank crewman. I also had a rifle custom built for 1,000yard target shooting. Not offended, I just don't get the comment.
southpier Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 well .. the contest was your idea, so i think you should structure the rules the way you see fit. i'm not in the sights ...... right?
Joker Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 i'm not in the sights ...... right? That's phunny right thar .
Roadrunner Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Are you referring to the new fender-less job that's on the way?
Eshaver Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 As long as it can resemble a late 40's Jalopy racer, I could get excited
tim boyd Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Great idea - but why not run this with NO restrictions - just let people exercise their creativity, as long as they start with this new kit. And don't award "places" or designate an overall winner, just let the models appearing in the magazine be the award and recognition for the builder, not to mention a fantastic source of inspiration for all who read the magazine. . This new kit was born to live for kitbashing. Trust me on this. Gregg/Harry/Darryl - I'd love to see you do this. I might even be willing to write the photo captions and help you choose the cars to appear.... TIM

And, give us/the builders plenty of time to build the entries.
Greg Myers Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Alright. Great idea. Let's get started. Where can we get this kit?
LDO Posted March 14, 2015 Author Posted March 14, 2015 That all sounds like a plan- a really good plan. And, give us/the builders plenty of time to build the entries. Sounds good to me, too. Good for everyone involved.
tim boyd Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 I'm hearing rumblings (not directly from Revelll) that it will be introduced around July-ish. Recommending you get those pre-orders in now, though! TB
