Revell snap Pete...Maggini #13 inspired. Maybe i got some motivation.

This is my next project. Starting with a Revell snap Pete. Gonna do some choppin and cuttin to make it a 2 axle day cab. No stretch, but it will be slammed. The paint will resemble the inspiration. I want to replicate the 1:1, if it were a 359, not a 379.

I'll be startin on this in the next week or so. I need to get all the parts together, into 1 box. I have everything, I think, here at the house. The stacks, bumper, visor and stainless strip.

As long as work doesn't call me in, I'm gonna start on this tomorrow since I have the day off. I want to at least get the sleeper cut off and frame cut down, maybe even start on the suspension.

That's the plan. I'm not exactly sure how I'm gonna go about it. But I know I'm spraying the yellow first.

Started cuttin this mornin. I cut the sleeper off so far.

Next I'm either gonna make the cab panel or cut on the frame.

I got the chassis started. I'm gonna shorten this up about a half inch. Then slam it in the weeds.

This is going to be awesome! I'm going to be watching this one for sure. I am curious to see how you end up doing the paint as well. If you are looking for a lower profile tire than the Moebius tires, I just remastered my low pro tires. Once I get my first batch of lowboy kits out I will be adding these to my website.

I think this was kitted after Pete quite the 2 axle separation numbers. I'm sure what year the 289 number was stopped.

From what I could find, so far, was 72 was the last year of the 289. It was only used on the small window years, 67-72.

Now that I got work out of the way.

I got the wheelbase shortened up as much as I could and still have room for the quarter fenders. I mocked it up the right size tires from Double Take, 225s on Moebius wheels. Now on to lowering this as low as I can.

I got the front as low as it can go and still use the bumper I have. The rear will be easy, cut the air bags, bump stops and shave a couple leafs off.

Here's a mock up with the tall curve out stacks. They almost look too tall. I'm gonna dig out the shorter curve outs I have and compare.

I've got an idea with stacks you might like. They'd have to be 3D printed, but the newest stuff from shapeways is supersmooth I can see ZERO marks on the hookset I had them print. The idea I have is with the optical illusion on the stacks in that inspiration pic. Some kind of cross spiral cut. If I can remember I'll see what I can come up with.

I'm gonna try to get this in primer this weekend. It's gonna be hard since my weekend is shortened again. I gotta leave for work late Sunday night and be out all week. I would do some motel room building, but won't have much time.
