I tryed to build a 88' 5.0 with a hand crafted (lol) rollcage, a Saleen wing from a convertible, and a hood that was not the right scale. It was the first time I have encountered photo etched badges and the first time I have sprayed a model. Yes I used to brush paint them when I was a kid.

That would be great I have the MPC, ERTL 1/25, and AMT kit is actualy what theat black one is and the rustang is one from 1987 but the hood is from PFS Hobbies and its resin and was to big, but I filed it down. I just got the 92 lowrider and Im looking for Cobra R rims for it. Do you know where to get parts just for the Fox bodies?

looks like you of to a good start :P

id like to suggest you use a photobucket account though

its a lot easier to upload as many pics as you want and they show up much larger which makes it easyer for all of us to see :)

as for the rims, i dont have any cobra rims but let me know if you want to trade of those slowrider rims/tires cos i could use them for a project i have in the works

thanks for the rims ;)

shoot me a PM when you get them and we'll talk buisness

as for the lights, i light to brush on a very light coat (sometimes even watered down) of either yellow (old cars) or blue (new cars) on the inside of the glass

it seems to do the trick

i know several people on here will download and print pictures of headlights which then then print on photopaper and glue to the model

looks very good aswell

for the tail lights, i use tamiya clear red paint

i just paint it over the inside of the tail light lenses or over the chrome

love the rims on the 'stang

but i would like to make one suggestion....drop the front end a few scale inches

i think it would look better if the body came down over the tires

As for Fox specific parts.....there are VERY few aftermarket. Reliable Resins (dons flame suit) does some stuff, but some here have had ill luck actually getting stuff from them. Most custom Fox parts you will have to make yourself or modify from other kits.

The wing camefrom Ebay, but I keep seeing this High Performance mustang kit on Ebay and I think They just made the wing from that kit out of resin and mass produced them. It took som fileing and bending to get it to fit, just like the over sized hood. I payed 12 dollars for that wing. and far as pics from your car I would just like to see them period, I am facinated by these fox bodies for some reason! You can send the pics to bigbsbargins@gmail.com and no i have no bargins! sorry.

Those taillights are an interesting bit to paint. There is no lens, just little notches in the body where the light shows through the body colored louvers. I had painted mine a silver blue so all I did was put some acrylic glass stain in the slots. I would suggest using a fine brush and some water based silver paint to paint each louver, wiping the excess off as you work and once that is fully dry, use some clear red acrylic paint and again, wiping off the excess. Should work.

The headlights for this kit are chrome and ugly. On this, I suggest looking at some real lights, painting some thined down black, gray and blue where they reflect on the real ones then going over them with some thinned elmers glue to take some of the chrome-i-ness out of it. That's what I do, anyway. Good luck and post pics when done!

from what i can see it looks pretty good.

here's my suggestions:

headlights - tamiya makes a clear smoke color that you can get in a spray can, code TS-71 and the local hobby store should be able to get it for you. you can use that to paint to the clear headlight covers. spray the inside of the lens, and make sure to mask the outside of it. the end result is a glossy smoke look. as far as the headlights themselves, i'd have to see what they look like before they're installed so i can give better suggestions for that. what i did for my skyline is i painted the actual "bulbs" a clear blue color to make it look like the HID blue headlights. you can do the same thing for fog lights.

taillights - it's a long process due to the way the tail lights are on the mustang, but would work: use super thin tamiya masking tape, mask off the raised sections as best you can. then use a toothpick and dip the tip of the toothpick in a silver/chrome paint and paint in the recessed areas. use a clean towel to clean up any paint that gets where you don't want it. once the silver is dry, then paint in tamiya clear red. the silver gives the clear red the look of a red clear plastic tail light, and the chrome helps the color pop. the reason i say to use super thin masking tape is because you can mask off and paint multiple sections at a time, and once the paint dries you can take the masking tape and work different sections. make sure to give your car's paint about a week or so to cure before masking it off, unless you have a dehydrator which would lower the time to 3-4 days. too soon and putting masking tape on the car might mess up the paint.

:D Well, that kit doesn't have headlight lenses- they're chrome. But the Elmer's glue trick mentioned above should work to make them look sorta clear.

Brandon, my pics are in my Fotki album in the link below here, above my sig pic, then go to Cars, and there are several albums with my car, my buddy's coupe, and lots of Foxes in the various show and race albums.

1995 CobraR rims can be found in the Tamiya kit (the 1995 Cobra R kit) that pops up on Ebay from time to time. PM me if you want to discuss what I have in parts (as I have about 35 Fox Chassis kits in my stash), or we would have to start another section just for the Fox bodies (as there are a few here who are into them!).
