Ron35369
I found time tonight to put the finishing touches on the 60 Impala convertible that I got from Ebay as a rebuilder. I painted it in HOK Sherwood green pearl. Hope you enjoy.

Harry P.
Were backup lights optional back then? I see some photos with the center taillight white, some photos with it red.
JunkPile
I'm no expert on this matter but I think back-up lights became mandatory in 1966 on American autos.
Ron35369
Back up lights were standard on the Impalas from 58 on. I chose to customize by replacing the back up light with a third tail light.
brewsterg6
Very nice job! It's not as easy of a conversion to make this kit into a convertible as you would think. I built one thinking it would only need using the '59 convertible's roof and windshield frame. It turns out you need the valence between the trunk and the rear window too. The trunks are different lengths, and the hard top's is not as flat as the convertible's. The rear seats are different as well. IMPALA SS 427
Very pretty, The colour really stands out, Have you got any "Before" pics of it? It looks very nice. Edited January 18, 2013 by IMPALA SS
Ron35369
Thanks for the great comments. James, I didn't even think to take before pics as I was anxious to start on this one. It was put together with minimal glue & no paint on anything. Bruce, this one was always a convertible so I didn't have too much work involved. It was missing the conv. boot & I swiped one from a Monogram 59 Impala that fit perfectly. I also used the 59 steering wheel & column & continental kit.
