wgflatliner
I will say only a couple things about this kit. 1. false advertisement. 2. it says it comes with a motor, has pictures of said motor on a motor stand, but NO MOTOR!!!! 3. it's $40. 4. the instructions also say it comes with a motor, but nowhere in the instructions do you actually put together a motor - so it's not like they forgot to include said motor. 5. i'm returning it. crazyjim
Brandon - where did you get the Skyline with left hand drive? I think that's the car that I love the lines of and want to build. Sorry - googled that kit and it's not the one. I think the one I'm looking for had more square headlights. Longbox55
I have a Fujimi GT-R with engine, and it does in fact have said engine in the box. I only paid $14 for mine. Mine is kit #37943. Edited February 1, 2010 by Longbox55
crispy
Sounds like you got a kit with a missing engine. Since it was or is a resin piece it was probably not put in the box before shipment. Unless you bought it secondhand, then I can see where someone bought it for the engine. Maybe try to contact fujimi or the place you bought it from to try and get the engine. I know the kit is OOP, but it's always worth a try. Chris

Chris no, it was in factory sealed box. when looking at the chassis, it has the "accurate undersurface" and throughout the instructions there aren't any instructions on building a motor. also, the hood is molded to the body. crispy
Mark, I know exactly what kit you have. All kits from Japan have no wrap on them. Like I asked before is this a kit you bought second hand or from a dealer? If it was imported through a dealer it was most likely wrapped through the middleman. As I said before I think your kit may have been missed as far as the engine is concerned. It happens. My suggestion would be to purchase the Tamiya kit that does have a engine. Much better kit. Chalk this up to lesson learned. All the same, wherever you got it from at the very least try to get your money back or get the engine. This is the excerpt from HLJ about this kit: "Standard kit of the Skyline comes with a fully assembled and painted and marked engine model with a display stand to show it off next to your kit (as seen in the photo below). With a little work, you might be able to mount it under the hood, but the kit is not designed to do this. Molded in black. Right side steering only." I'm just trying to help you get this thing right. Good Luck. Chris

crispy
Mark, I have the engine from my R32 Tamiya kit. It was an unfortunate victim of a 6 year olds grip at the hobby shop display. You are welcome to it if you want it. Just let me know. Chris

crazyjim
I think I like the 1989-1995 model year for the Skyline. I'd love to build a kit but it would need to be LHD. Brandon - new pic for your avatar - you get a new car? Hope you've been well.

Brandon - new pic for your avatar - you get a new car? Hope you've been well. ok, the R32 GT-R and actualy they where made from 1989-1994, in 1995 thats when they came out with the R33 GT-R, its more rounded, and then in 1998 they came out with the R34. and i'll pm you about that! Wayne Buck
I looked at a few different sites that offer this kit and they all say it "includes a painted and finished engine", so I'm coming to the conclusion that the engine probably would not be in the assembly instructions. Me thinks you got robbed...

Mark, I'm off all weekend so I'll see what's left of the car and get you an itemized list. I pulled the engine out of my engine bin and it looks pretty complete. I'll send you a pm when I get to it. Chris sounds good, chris. i had already ordered the gr.a skyline from tamiya that i know for a fact comes with the engine, so my plans are to do the full kit as it is, with goodies added of course - and i would likely put the spare engine either in another model or on an engine stand, completely detailed. as far as the issue of getting that bogus kit (in my opinion), i returned it and got a dodge rammunition monster truck. when i went back to the store the other day, they re-packaged the model and put it back on the shelf, for $40. i just have a feeling this model is going to be leaving and coming and leaving and coming into peoples hands and back into their store.
