Superpeterbilt
Ive been wanting to this for awhile, and I decided to tackle it today. My plan was to cut the top down even with the sides, cut down the tailgate, and make it a tandem. To start, I cut down the front, then the inner liner. Then I glued in the liner Next, I shortened the tailgate I cut some styrene sheet to plate the back of the tailgate Edited January 13, 2015 by Superpeterbilt
Superpeterbilt
I added some styrene to reinforce the landing gear and added bud wheels from the logging trailer. I shortened the axles by about 3/16.

Superpeterbilt
Thanks guys. Well, I decided what to hitch it to. I wanted to do the trailer in a turquoise color, and I really wanted to put it behind a Pete. Then I remembered I started a Cali Hauler in that very color awhile back. So, here it is. All the truck needs is a motor, and the cab painted. I sold the detroit out of it. I think I may put a 3406 in it and make the hood tilt for a change. I usually glue them shut. That Pete is going to be a nice one also - Need a Cummins for it ?

Superpeterbilt
Heres my progress for tonight. I added brackets to the trailer frame to hold my shovel I added some steps to the front of the trailer I also didnt like the vertical tailgate, so I angled it a little I fooled with the tractor a little. I moved the driver side fuel tank forward a little and started modifying the wet tank. I also shorted a catwalk from the DR kit. I also added some left over Italeri hood hinges and cut off that poseable hood tab. Tomorrow Im going to get started on the 3406 and fab up the exhaust. Im going to add an auxillary trans and fab up the shift linkage.
Old Buckaroo
It just gets better everytime I see it ! I will be looking forward to the shift linkage work, take lots of pictures
Superpeterbilt
Update: I dropped the 2nd fuel tank. This truck will only run local. I also tossed the catwalk and moved the wet tank closer to the cab. I got rid of the tiny Alcoas, and added some resin 5 holes and some spokes in the back. Now its lookin right. I added some angle to the bottom of the 5th wheel plate, and will add some bolts to the angle. Now that I have it configured correctly(for me), the next thing I will do is build the Cat, mount the auxillery, run the brake lines, a little plumbing, and a little body work. Comments are always welcome.
guitarsam326
with those five holes up front and the spokes in back, you should just cut up the hood and have a nice lookin 351! (it'll look great anyway, im just partial to the narrow noses!)
