espo
Like the flat bed idea. Did the front suspension in the kit have an I beam setup or did you ad that ? the side rails on the bed are very realistic with the gas filler and running lights. Joker
@ David aka Espo , the axle is kit supplied. ...I wondered the same thing. Kinda gasser set up if ya ask me. Google image gave me the gas filler idea and I just had to have it and the side markers too. Using coffee stir sticks will get you a better looking part...I mean what's more real than wooden stir sticks . What you see is a push bumper ...just placed back there to inspire me. The kit does include a styrene "wood" push bumper and it's detail is faint.
espo
Good idea on the stir sticks. I have used some Ice cream sticks from a bar called Magnum. My wife keeps me supplied. Made a push bumper for a '50 Ford pickup. Mounted with a bent fine wire. I drilled into the bottom of the "bumper" then bent at a 90 degree and into a drilled bracket I glued to the top of the bumper mount. It all looks very convincing and its removable. The sticks are a little wider then the coffee sticks and look like a solid piece, although you could score it and make it look like two pieces with a little more integrity. Just a thought. Are you going to try wider rear tires or stay with what you have now ?
Joker
I have a set of rims/tires from the Phantom Vickie standing in line. The only thing is that they give it too much rake.
Joker
Update pixs . . . Made some rear fenders out of a trashed (score) 5-hour energy bottle just for giggles. Not using them...going for mud flaps. Thanks Steve S. for the braided sensor wire. Super glued the ends to stop the unraveling and inserted a solid copper wire to hold the shape. JTalmage
I really dig it! I have this same truck I bought assembled (poorly) off ebay... I am also narrowing the rear frame on mine. I'm making a replica of the Muscle Truck, from Roadkill... started a thread in the trucks section a while back but stopped building for a while. Really makes me wanna finish it!
