Dr. Cranky
Well, maties, after a little break from the rusty rats I've been building, I returned from the Alabama show inspired by the amazing work of so many builders, but in particular Steve Boutte and Ted "Chopper" Lear, so I got a little project started. Tom Kren's Merc also served as inspiration for sure!!! Not much so far other than the body work (I took the lazy way and used--ONCE AGAIN!!!--the 49 Merc!), but the important thing was to get the paint just right. It's a combination of House of Kolor tangelo and sunset pearls for the base coat, then pagan gold and spanish gold for a little depth, about six coats of clear, the last two mixed in with some pearls . . . which are only visible in the sunlight . . . The grill, hubcaps, and all the chrome work is done in House of Kolor chrome effects . . . Stay tuned in for more . . . Raul_Perez
Hey Virgil, that new avatar is pretty cool!! Do you have any updated pics of the Merc? (I've grown to expect more from you at this stage of a build than just a painted body with a grille and a couple of wheels stuck under it). Dr. Cranky
When one would simply not do . . . two begin to feel better. It might be that I will spend the rest of my life painting shiny bodies . . . never ever to finish a single one . . . The only difference is that one has glitter and the other doesn't.
