Brutalform
I know this is going to be a long shot...but does anyone have, and be willing to part with them. MCW Resins says on their website, that they have them, but, ONLY comes with the resin model kit. I have a 62 kit, I would like to build into the Bonner drag Galaxie. I do have a set of decals from his T Bolt kit, but, the "Al Means" is colored white, as where I need it to be black. Most, not, all of the decals are there as the door decal is identical to the 62 car. Can I use a Sharpie on the decal, to color the letters black? Or would I ruin the decal? Any input would be great....Thanks!!!!! Tom Edited June 19, 2011 by Brutalform
funhouse1
This sounds like something you could do with an ordinary inkjet printer and a photoshop type program...results would probably be a lot nicer than the Sharpie route. Do you have a way to scan the decals? I'd be willing to help you with this.
Steve Prideaux
TOM, I believe that Phil Bonner ran at least 2, 62 ford Galaxies . One was a red two door hardtop for Frank Vego Ford. and a light blue two door sedan for Al Means ford. MCW automotive finishes has resin bodies and decals for both cars. I believe the decals are only awvailadle with the purchase of the resin bodies. You can go to: mcwautomotivefinishes.com and go to the resin section and click on the gallery and see both cars under 62 ford galaxie Good luck, Steve

Tom As hor the Sharpie question, awhile ago I bought the AWB Longnose '67 Camaro body (don't remember from who), to build Dick Harrells Yenko Super Camaros car, I got the decals from Fred Cady & the only thing wrong with the decals was that the word Yenko was printed in white when it should have been black, I used a black Sharpie on it with no problems ( I already had the decals on the body, so I don't know if using the Sharpie before hand & then putting it in water would have any different effects). Brutalform
This is my first time working with a resin kit. I have worked with a resin chassis before, but not the car. I pretty much got the suspension done so I can mock it up to see if the car is level, and all four tires are on the ground. The front will set a bit lower, after I trim the front frame so it fits behind the bumper better. I am using the 60 Starliner chassis, suspension, and engine, but I am using the resin interior, except for the dash. The Starliner dash looks more like the 62 dash, as compared to the resin one that came with the kit. Almost everything is painted, except for the body. The interior is painted with Testors Icy Blue lacquer. So far, except for the trial fitting of parts more than styrene, resin is not too bad to work with. I might buy another one...probably a 63 Catalina, maybe. As for the decals, another member on this site might be able to make a set. Here are a few pics of the car, now in primer. Got a lot of sanding to do as of yet, and I still don't like the way the hood fits, as the corners of the hood stick up. I will have to play around with it some more. Its a lot better than it was though.
Brutalform
Got the engine, interior, and the rest of the chassis done. I am waiting for some PE header flanges from Detail Master, to put on the headers. I also was to add some Detailer wash to the underside floor pan. Maybe I will start to BMF tomorrow. Just waiting for the decals now. Edited July 10, 2011 by Brutalform
brett
coming along nicely, good to see you're still making progress
Brutalform
Got the BMF finished yesterday. Assembled the rest of it this afternoon. Another 62 with the decals came in from MCW, and when I get them applied, I'll post a few pics "Under Glass". I bought another 62 car from MCW, to get the decals, and I might sell the extra car, or maybe just add it to the stash. This was a fun build, as it is my first resin build. Can't wait to get it totally finished tomorrow. Edited July 14, 2011 by Brutalform
hemiman_1999
An ink jet printer can print a decal but they print using a very thin layer of ink almost a tint and can not print white if you want to put the decal on say a white car it will tranfere colors OK but on a red or blue car it will not do very well you can try to put on 2-3 layers of decal but its still not going to transfer color as well. Plus the decal will only be as good as the master art it was printed from. We have 1 decal for a 62 Ford, and have not thought of doing any others because the resin items just don't sell. I will be doing an update to our site within the next few days listing some new stuff but no 62 Fords are coming out.. I have a Dell Photo 924 printer. I would LOVE to learn how to make my own decals.

Yes, Bruce...I contacted Rick about a decal through Email, but I did not hear back from him. He might be busy, and his site does have all of its products on it, but, I figured I would ask anyway. I understand you have to print the ones that sell. This car I bought through Ebay, and it just happened to be the MCW "Nascar" kit. I went ahead and bought another 62 right from MCW directly, just to get the decals. Now I have a spare Galaxie resin kit, that I might sell, or just keep, and possibly buy the Jerry Alderman Ford and just buy the 62 decal from you guys. This car is finished now, in the "under glass" board. Thanks for the reply, Bruce. Edited July 17, 2011 by Brutalform
Scott8950
I know this is ancient but just wondering if anyone makes these decals? I'd like to have a set.

If you are looking for the Al Means Phil Bonner set, I have one still left.Send me a PM with your info, and they are yours. Pics of the more recent build.
