Fox Chassis (Ford) community build anyone?

It looks WAAAYYYY better now than when you started, that is for sure, Jason. how many hours do you have into clean-up and fixing the ills of that cast?

I have only a vague idea but I'd say so far around 15-20 give or take. Keep in mind roughly 5 of those were just cutting out the windows and trimming down the body.

Then there were the hoods....OH so many hoods. There are four that I was toying with just for this body, alone.

Body work is my least favorite part (which, ironically counter-points you, Jason) and is why I have so many unfinished projects. I am an engine guy, always have been and always will be. I have some sweet engines together with half-finished bodies wrapped around them!

I am with you. a whole build usually revolves around what mill I have been thinking about lately

I just like engines.....the build is completely separate from the powertrain thought. I usually determine the overall vibe/look of what I want to build, get wheels/stance/basic body taken care of, then build up a sweet powertrain. Then it all dies when it gets to finish/final bodywork.

Let's take a look with primer on them...

Again ...

Hood #1

Hood #2

Hood #3

Hood #4

The four together...

Kind of hard to tell them apart now, ...isn't it?

(picture = left : 1 on bottom 2 on top,right side 3 on bottom 4 on top.)

Yet if you'd seen them before you'd have thrown all of them away ...possibly.

I guess anything can be saved if someone is so determined.

On the car which hood is this?

the one you added filler extention over the headlight area does not look right to me looks like you added too much... it looks like when you put it one the car it will look like would have a lazy eye..

the hood I talking about is in the 2nd to the last picture on the bottom right side. ( hood #3)

Possibly..

You mean this one?

Does the right side have too much, or does the left side have too little?

Doesn't matter either way. This is as good as that hood gets...

...Even added hinges from one of my hoods that was too thin to use, on it's own....

Hi everybody!

Here's a build I started a while back on another forum. it ended with what i think was a lack of interest, so it has sat in the box since. Recently I've been looking to see whats going on here, and I've decided to continue it.

....and where it's at now.

Lots of great looking builds here, I just looked through all 45 pages (whew)

Would love to build a '79 pace car, just like my old car was - a 2.3 turbo with 5 spd with that black/white interior - but the only kit on ebay currently is just 'stupid' asking price

I'm in the same boat when it comes to that 79. Occasionally someone has a built-up version of it you may be able to rebuild. There was one that just ended last week I couldn't get, but was window shopping on. I have a spare 2.3 T from the Cafe Racer i'm not using. That is if you want to start accumulating parts in hopes of a bash restoration.

Thanks Lawrence, I will certainly keep you in mind! :)

I'm waiting to hear back about a kit now, for a reasonable price, I may just have to mold & repop the '79-82 body? :D Maybe to clean up one, and improve on it slightly, then make a few copies for fellow modelers, would be a good idea?

From what i hear molding a whole body at home can be a real drag. But if you can do it, I'm game. I have the 79 guts, chassis pan and exhaust but no body of that era..

It all depends on the modeler, for me that's not an issue, making my own kits & molding parts for those or other builds, for a body it just takes some patience in making the mold properly, especially a 2 part

Here's one I just picked up, as it was not to expensive, I hadn't noticed before hand, that the body uses the flared fender style - like the Capri models - of that period, and isn't accurate of the McLaren car's handcrafted flared fenders were actually

Still would like to try and find a pace car kit, been trying to find even just a decal set, but no luck thus far!

Here's an interesting modern build version, maybe a bit extreme from my own custom build idea though

Here's a cool idea for seat pattern in decal form!
