MCM Ohana (6/6)

  1. I've got a set I bought years ago- think from Missing Link- not sure if they're still available, seems like they still have stuff on ebay
  2. I believe the AMT Pro Stock kit was reissued after the 76/77 updates with the same box art- if you find a Pro Stock kit it may or may not have the '75 grille depending on release
  3. Got a few rebuider projects to keep me busy for now anyways LOL
  4. Ironically the front end treatment on the Palmer/Lindberg/Testors '72 might make a better movie car than the stock annual LOL
  5. Isopropyl 91%- seems to work on a lot of poster/ art paints as well as the finish they put on the prepainted AMT kits a few years back My procedure is a Purple bath as first attempt then alcohol if that doesn't strip it
  6. If you look closely those are actually 70-71 Challengers "dressed up" to look like newer models in the movie- the garage scenes with the VIN swap have closeups with the numbers- the interior shot where Jill is being stolen at the airport shows a 71- up column key release and 71 interior pattern Another "assembled" vehicle was the blue 71 Sebring Plus with Road Runner hood and grille that gets wrecked during the chase while being test driven by the couple
  7. The bare rally wheels were a standard item in early 70's MPC Corvette annuals through around 1975- I've also seen them available in resin
  8. New approach- took all the Revell '69 Camaros I had accumulated off the shelf and pretty much started them all at once - Black RS/SS convert, Yellow SS convert, Hugger Orange RS Z/28, Pace Car convert, Blue Yenko SC, Red Baldwin Motion, Silver Z/28, Maroon RS/SS396, Green ZL-1
  9. Mock ups of a couple in progress MPC '72 Road Runners..... Using AMT Charger chassis for each, planning on gold strobe stripe, 440 4 speed and Dana from Revell 69 Charger for dark green- 340 4 speed and magnum road wheels on light green. Looks like I made top trim a bit wide
  10. The Chrysler 350 was a B engine- externally identical to the "normal" 383 (although valve covers on big block engines went from 4-bolt to 6 bolt for '65 and an RB series 383 available in lower line '59-'60 Chryslers) The kit engine is a mess with a strange intake but overall depicts a big block with a cast iron Torqueflite
