i see way to many builds here with all these small details i am searching for on line and come up empty ,, like a battery decal , and the fire extinguisher decal  , where do you guys get this stuff , i am sure this is such an old question , sorry ....

at the risk of sounding glib, "from everywhere" is my initial response.

 

it depends on what you're modeling. if it's a 1/12 scale funny car, you won't take the same poetic license as if you were modeling a 1/25 scale down and out wrecker. try not to fall into the 'checkbook modeler' syndrome and attempt to buy your way to great models. yes; there's a lot of great cottage industires cranking out gotta-have goodies - i have a shoebox of them waiting my attention now - but that's not what modeling is all about.

 

there's graphic waiting to be used wherever you look. some bought for the forefront, but you can also just get some bright bits of paper and weather them down and use them for the background scenes.

Try newer NASCAR kits for the fire extinguisher decals.

Get some decal paper and make your own.  I did some the just the other day for the very first time.  They came out pretty decent.
