66 Continental Gluebomb Restoration

I bought this on ebay under built kits. It was a 4 door hardtop with the optional padded half roof and trunk kit installed. It was in ok condition, but those paddaed parts had to go. I was going to do another hardtop, but the last builder must of had stock in glue, because when I pried them off the damage from the glue was extensive. I ended up removing the top and rebuilding the trunk lid. The paint on this one is Tamiya's primer white, 4 coats of Lowes Valspar light blue spray, 4 coats of Testors wet look clear. The interior was done in Tamiya's racing blue over a semi-gloss black base coat and the glass was tinted with 3 very light coats of Tamiya's clear blue. It took a lot of polishing  with Novus #2 to get the light blue to it's mirror finish. I don't think AMT made a 66 convertible, so this made a nice addition to my Lincoln collection and makes a nice companion for my 68 teal Conti. I'm waiting on a replacement windshield, because I crack this one during the conversion, so the sun visors will be installed then.

Let me know what you think, thanks for looking.

1961 Ford Courier (Sedan Delivery)

20 August 2014 - 08:43 AM

This is a Jimmy Flintstone transkit and a real nice conversion kit that includes body, interior tub and bed insert. Everything goes together perfectly with very little filing. I painted the body Tamiya bright red with primer grey interior with black accents. The glass was tinted with a light coat of Tamiya's clear blue. I did file off the outside of the kit supplied wheels to make the white walls look more like 1960 period tires.

This makes a nice companion model for AMT's Ranchero.

Thanks for looking.

Testors Highboy Sedan

13 August 2014 - 09:06 AM

This was a quick two day build. I painted it a Dupli-color wine over a gold primer and Tamiya clear red top coat. The model is built pretty much box stock with the exception of the after market velosity cones. The body is diecast with the rest of the model being molded in plastic and includes photo-etched parts including the grill and  dash bezels. Overall a nice kit that goes to together well and looks good.

Thanks for looking.

59 Impala mild custom

05 August 2014 - 07:53 AM

Here's my 59 Chevy painted like a 58. I painted the car Tamiya's Semi-gloss black and Testors Bright Pink lacquer and then top coated with Tamiya's Clear Red. The clear red turned the semi-gloss black into black cherry. All glass was tinted with a light coat of clear red. The wheels and tires are from Monogram's Firebird.

The headlights are MV lenses.

Let me know what you think.

VW Resto Rod

25 July 2014 - 07:18 AM

This is Polar Lights Spiderman Bettle. It was molded in red, so I primed it in Tamiya's white primer and then applied 3 coats Testors Brilliant Pink lacquer and 3 coats of Testors Wet Look Clear. The interior was done in the Pink with Semi-gloss black 2 tone and I smoked the windows using Tamiya Clear Smoke. All paint was appied out of rattle cans. I lowered the suspension to give a a nice stance with a nice set of after market wheels.

I had a lot of trouble with fit, it was one of the most difficult snap kit I ever done. The overall look of the model is very nice though.
