  1. Not confident really, just too many people seem to think it's a model. It may very well be a model. I just think it COULD be real just as easily as a model.
  2. Added another coat of paint this morning, and just recently painted the black trim. Man, I hate painting this very thin area! It's even worse on brightly colored cars where mistakes are even more noticable! Dont' drink too much cafine before doing this! Anyway, enjoy the update. Painted the headlight buckets. Front and side window frames. Rear window frame. It's nice that they frost it where your supposed to paint because I think the frosted bit tends to help keep the paint in line.
  3. Hello there! I'm having so much fun with my RX7, I'm tempted to purchase these three cars next! I love this style of tuning. Does anybody know what color the MR2 is supposed to be? It's sort of on the same shade as British Racing green, but I seriously doubt being a Japanese car, that it's British Racing Green. So what color is it? Was thinking of possibly gold mesh wheels with tan interior against the green? Also, the next two silver cars will probably be a light gun-metal color. Almost a silver, but not as bright. And no where near as dark as my RX7.
  4. I have tried to search for my old pictures of the toy car it'selfe but had no luck. The only picture I have is of the Hot Wheels version. I've already got this one sitting ontop of my computer. What I'm after, is the larger version and again, not sure if it's 1/32 scale or 1/24 scale or some where in betwee. It's almost the same size as Fujimi's 89 Honda CRX, maybe a tad smaller. It comes on a flat card-type package with bubble-cover. It's pull-back toy with a lighted siren. On the very bottom of the package I beleive it sais it's made by Yatmig if my memory serves me right, could be a sister company to Bandai not sure. I've exausted my search on ebay time and time again and I'm very surprised it's not on there. I dont' know how many were made in the first place, but I can't beleive it's that rare. I originally paid around 20-30 dollars for mine at www.ToyEast.com, but that was like I think maybe 3-4 years ago? Dont' know what they cost today if one can even be found! I've not yet looked through any of the Japanese, or Chinese auction sites or e-stores as I can't read anything but English, LOL! I'm willing to pay up to 130 dollars for this toy, anything more than that seems rediculous. The toy itselfe has got to be in mint condition. A few scratches maybe okay as long as the window's and lenses and important bit's are perfect. Hope the picture of the Hot Wheels version can help you help me find it. I really truely miss that toy and wish I never touched it! And I desperatly want another one! I have seen the same toy available in another package form, more like a box and probably toy-RC maybe?
  5. Aw thank's man, that would be awesome. I've searched, and searched, and searched ebay via looking for Ultraman stuff, Honda Insight stuff, and found nothing. Only thing I can find is that tiny little Hot Wheels model that I already own. I can provide you with a picture of what the toy look's like. It's basically a silver Honda Insight with blue/orange graphics, an Ultraman logo on the door, and a blue police siren on top. I'm not entirely sure what scale it is, some say 1/32, some say 1/24. All I know is it fit's 1/28 scale RC car chassis. If I ever do get a hold of another one, all I want to do to it is to delete the police siren, and paint it to match my car. I promise no body-mods! I can probably send you PayPal payment in a month or so. So if you would search for it, I'd highly appreciate it! Will post pictures of the Hot Wheels version soon. If I can find my old picture of the toy it'selfe, I'll post that instead. That Fujimi Honda CRX 89 model has always been my favorite and a very rare find indeed. I remember SEVERAL years ago being in Paris, there was a hobby shop that had a ton of'em. I think Revell was going to produce one identical but in their 1/25 scale tuner series. Some reason, they scrapped it and cancelled the kit.
  6. Thank you, I gave the exterior of the body another coat and will probably add another coat to the interior of the body tomarrow before doing the trim work, decal's, and clear coating. When dry-fitting it all together, body on chassis and what not, it sit's a bit high for my likeing. I wonder how to lower it without ruining anything.
  7. I've been collecting, and building Mini-Z's since they first came out back in '01. I've owned at least one-three of every type of chassis they offered and each one hopped up. Two years ago I had a large collection of their AutoScale bodies, about 50 of'em. However, due to bad-choices, mother passing away, et'c, I had to sell theme off to pay back Dad. Anyway, enough of that blah, blah. Mini-Z's are great fun, but highly addictive and not for the low-budgeted people. You can't have just one. As soon as you start collecting the bodies, you'll want more and more and then you'll try and find some of the rarest ones. Some bodies alone can go for as high as 200 dollars which is rediculous cause that's the price of a ready-set! Now that I've started school, lost some interest in the cars, I have sold just about all of theme excpet for two bodies. I have a Knight Rider KITT body, and of coarse my recently painted Toyota Altezza that you see as my avatar. The coolest thing now, is Kyosho's 1/43 scale Dnano RC car. Go to this web site to learn more about'em. http://www.nanotrax.net/store/ To purchase Dnano's in the USA, the only place I know of is here. Although dont' know if the store is still open. http://www.dnanoshop.com/Kyosho_dNaNo_Cars_s/1.htm One warning, these cars are very, very awesome, but very expensive. First, they are not available as ready set's. You have to buy the body-chassis kit seperately from the remote, battery, and charger. Body-chassis set alone costs just around 200 dollars depending on where you shop. The "starter kit" costs around 80 some dollars. Plus, their not officially released to the USA yet which makes'em expensive as well. Then there's the hop-up's for'em. I hope to have one soon but gotta take care of my cc bill first! Currently, the best place, and cheapest place to buy the Dnano's from is at EGRMart.com. These guy's dont' mess around when it comes to delivering orders! They are based in Asia, not sure China or Japan, but I've ordered some stuff on a Sunday evening, and received the parts Wenseday the same week! Going with EMS delivery helps alot too, but sometimes it takes some stores 3-4 day's just to gather the stuff together, package it, and ship it out to you!
  8. Thank you for your comments. Steering wheel mounted, and dashboard and door panels dry-mounted. I'm leaning torwards NOT carbonizing the hood. Back in the 80's when they were tuning and modifying these cars such as Maria and others, I doubt they used carbon-fiber much. Carbon-fiber for import's usually started mid 90's? So I think I'll keep this true and don't use carbon on the body. I also decided against sponsorship decals and what not. Just simple factory badges. The simpler I keep it, the better looking it usually becomes!
  9. Thank you! Just finished putting the steering wheel on and dry-fitting the dashboard into place. Look's awesome all put together.
  10. Some more updates. I painted the bottom side of the body to finish off the skirts and give it a more complete look. Interior almost done. Decided upon these wheels as their offset is better than the other ones. And, I decided to give'em a gold finish. I learned a secret from building a previous Koenig Specials model, that if you paint clear yellow ontop of chrome, it gives it a much nicer gold look to it than useing gold paint. I hate building these types of interiors. I much prefer bucket style where it's all molded as one and all you add is the seats and dashboard. Speaking of dashboard. This is one of the most complex dashboards I've had to build. It's got way to many individual peices, including the switches on the sides of the steering colome! I'm considering painting aluminum over these bit's as they are so tiny their hard to see when black on black. I dont know why they made'em seperate anyway.
  11. Thank's for the info. I doubt I'm skilled enough to hack a CRX. I just wish I can find that darn toy from the Ultraman series!
  12. Thank you! I have another set which has a better offset, but still further in than I'd like. Seems I need a longer peg to mount the wheels on, but dont' know where to find one or how to make one. Where would I be able to find the kit you mentioned? And how much?
  13. A mockup of the build so far. So far, so good unfortunetly, the front wheels are too far in! How can I fix this? Rear wheels are perfect as I had several different axles to choose from. But the fronts? Any suggestions? I've already spaced theme out as far as I knew how with an additional poly-cap between the wheel and suspension arm. You can see how well the gray's go together! You can see here how the wheels are put in. Second picture shows the poly-cap spacer.
  14. I have thought about the 1/24 scale. As I mentioned I sometimes race Kyosho's 1/28 scale Mini-Z's, but the KS Testarossa from Fujimi is too big for the 1/28 scale MR02 chassis. HOWEVER, a company called Tagu, http://www.geocities.jp/wild_zracing/ that makes a 1/24 scale conversion kit for the MR02 chassis. I have not yet tried that as I've pretty much gotten out of the Z-scene for a while. When I get back into the Mini-Z's, I will probably try this conversion kit if it's still available and even then it might not fit the KS model. I was however more interested in the smaller 1/43 scale Dnano I mentioned and was hopeing the KS resin kit would be suitable and would fit. If one could be made into a lexan body, that would be suitable. However, I tend NOT to like lexan as their usually not as detailed. However, if it's a way to get my dream car, than so be it.
  15. I have visited Hobby Link Japan lot's of times but have had no luck. I purchased that old Ultraman series Honda INsight toy car from Toy East about four years ago I think it was. I don't want one for RC use, but would be nice to have one for display. Problem with RC use, is since the Insight tapers to the rear, meaning it's narrower in the rear than the front, it would require a completely custom rear end for RC car. The only hope for that to work, would be useing Kyosho's MA010 AWD Mini-Z car, converting it to front wheel drive, and have a custome Y-shapped rear section made to bring the rear wheels closer together to fit inside the body. When I tried RC'ing the first one back then, we didn't have the AWD, all we had was normal rear wheel drive and it was impossible to get the rear to fit properly. So I tried some body modifications to widen the Insight and that's where I fouled up. Again, wish I never touched that rare toy. Last two years I've been in communication with one of the employee's at Toy East, and they were helping me search for another toy, but I've never heard from him so I take it he never found it either. Still, it beg's to question. How much would it cost to have a custom resin kit made of this car? Even just a basic shell display model, meaning, body, windows, chassis, and wheels? Again, interior would be cool, but not needed if it makes it cheaper to not have interior. To your suggestion, I just had a search through Hobby Link Japan and they had NOTHING.
  16. This swapping dash peices is one reason why I love Fujimi's model kit's. As far as I know, they are the only ones that feature optional driver side. I think pretty much 98% of their kit's do that.
  17. Hello there. Is there a professional resin kit maker that can build a 1/24 scale model of the 2001 Honda Insight? I personally drive one every day and I'm dying to have a model kit of it. I have a 1/43 scale die-cast model of it from Ebbro which I repainted to match my real car, and I have a Hot Wheels toy of it from the Japanese Ultraman series. There was a 1/32-24ish scale toy car of the Honda Insight done up for the Ultraman series. It was a pull-back toy with a little police siren ontop. I had one about four years ago and destroyed it for an RC experiement that went horribly wrong. Now I totally regret touching that toy as it is a very, very, very, very, very rare toy and I doubt I'll ever find another one. So, I am dying for a 1/24 scale model of my Honda Insight. This one isn't exactly mine, but mine look's exactly like this one. So can somebody make a 1/24 scale resin model of this car? I'm not too concerned about interior details, chassis details et'c. I just want a really nice basic kit to build from. I beleive everybody should have a model kit of their own car and I'm really mad that there ISN"T one of the unique Honda Insight! There are dozen's of toy's and models of the ugly Toyota Prius. Sorry to those who drive one, but why is the Insight left out in the model world? An interior would be nice, but big concentration is on the body, windows, chassis, and a set of wheels. How much would it cost to have one custom made?
  18. Thank you for that info. I wasn't sure about resin's. How are they for painting? What paint's work best on theme? I am still interested in building a 1/43 Koenig Speicals Competition "Ferrari Testarossa" resin kit, but like I said, I've never worked with resin before. So how do they compare build/paint wise with regular plastic kit's? It's a shame the bodies wont' work for the Dnano's, it would be so freaking awesome to have a 1/43 KS Competition RC car. Wonder how to make one into a lexan body perhaps?
  19. Everyone sais model? I maybe a newbie here in the forum, but I say real just because everyone else think's model!
  20. Anybody interested in racing Kyosho's 1/28 scale Mini-Z Racers, and what about their newest 1/43 scale Dnano's?
  21. Hello there. I have seen alot of 1/43 scale resin kit's listed on ebay lately. I'm curious about resin as I've never worked with it before. I have a big interest in small RC cars and recently Kyosho came out with the coolest little pocket rocket known as the Dnano. The Dnano is a highly sophisticated high performance RC car with bodies of esquisit die-cast like quality detail. The Dnano's are 1/43 in scale, come with the new 2.4 GHZ technology, tiny Lipo battery, and are simply a blast to drive around. They are far, far from being a toy. Expensive, but very cool. Anyway, the question is this. Are the resin model kit's plastic, or die-cast? Die-cast would be way to heavy for the Dnano's. If their plastic, then they might be worth looking into as there are several resin model kit's of my all time favorite exotic car tuner Koenig Specials. I'm very interested in their highly modified Ferrari Testarossa and been tempted to get the resin kit for the body. The other question is, are the resin's durable? If their die-cast, it'll be too heavy, if it's plastic, how's it's durability? And has anybody built any of these models and can they share me some pictures? Anybody a fan of Koenig SPecials and has anyone done any other scale model kit's of these cars? They come in 1/43 scale resin, 1/24 scale, and 1/18 scale kit's.
  22. New wheels from Aoshima! And fresh paint! Don't those mirrors look cool! And two-tone gray dashboard and seats. And what look's like a Momo steering wheel. The gray is hard to see but I two-toned it as well.
  23. Thank's guy's. I got some better wheels from Aoshima for this project. I just glued on the aerodynamic "Initial D" mirrors on it and it really gives it a cool clean look. I think with the shiny new wheels I'll continue painting it with that special gray, but still not sure about adding carbon-fiber decal on the hood. When I "carbonize" my models, I use the sweet stuff from Scale Motor Sports. They make really nice realistic carbon-fiber decals in various scales. Mini-Z's are great fun as their bodies are highly detailed and almost same size as our 1/24 scale models. In fact, some racers modify 1/24 scale bodies to fit the Mini-Z chassis.
  24. Hello there. I am new to this forum and I'd like to share my current project. I had a Fujimi Mazda RX7 FC3S model kit laying around still mint in sealed packag and I decided to start working on it rather then spending 30 bucks on a new kit. I've always loved Fujimi as most of their kit's offer optional dashboards for left or right sided drivers. They also feature alot of really cool "tuned" cars. Here are some pic's of the RX7. I plan on painting this in a custom mixed metallic gray that I had left over from painting a tail-peice for an Align Trex Airwolf that I did a while back. It's almost a gun-metal gray color, but different. I also am into collecting sometimes racing 1/28 scale Kyosho Mini-Z cars and here is a Toyota Altezza body I painted in this gray. Anyway, here's the RX7 so far. The interior will be painted two tone gray useing Tamiay paints German Gray for the dark, and Light Gray for the, eh well light.
