  1. Thanks Bob I appreciate it. I have been dying to finish this one for years but figured I would work on a couple other kits to get me back in the grove of things. I have a couple colors in mind for the body, I just need to figure out how I want to do the graphics on this one. I am excited to get back to this project and am looking at a couple more 1/16 scale drag kits in the near future that I have in mine
  2. Hello All, Just wanted to share one of my builds from a while ago (12 years ago or so) with all of you. This kit started out with AMT's '62 Bel Air and I turned it into a Pro Street. This Kit took 6 months to build and was painted with PPG DCU basecoat/clearcoat with custom mixed colors. Description of everything I did. The whole car If you take a look you can see the 5 point seat belt harness's from Cover Shot Models The Engine bay with steel braided lines along with turned aluminum fittings that were painted to look like earls or russel fittings. This is all paint not decals. I layed down the turquose down first taped out the pattern for the lavender, then sponged the purple over the lavender Dash I had cut out the trunk and hinged it. Scratch build the fuel cell and fuel pump. the trunk is also carpeted. the under carriage. the Back half (the tubs) were from a 1967 Chevelle pro street kit that was grafted into the 62 Bel air chassis This project made it into Car Modeler at the NNL West back in 1998 which I was very proud and honored that they wanted to take pics of this car. The cover date of the Car Modeler issue.
  3. his started out as a 1/16 scale Don Prudomme Front Engine kit that I started 14 years ago and it's calling me to finally complete this kit once I compete my other two projects that I have going. But then again who doesn't have more than one project at a time right...lol I'd say I probably have a dozen or so kits that I had started years ago that got put on the back burner for a while. Anyway here are some pics of this kits and hope you enjoy... Side view with body panels that have been primed. I am still working on the colors and paint scheme that I want paint the kit. The Front End Fuel tank and oil filters The Seat The Frame was painted a yellow and then I added a gold pearl in the clear. Up Close view of the engine Another view. All A/N fittings were from Detail Master and RB Motion. Braided line was Detail Master the fuel distribution blocks were scratch build and individual injector lines were hand built and polished.
  4. Here is a kit that I have started about 15 years ago and is pretty much complete other than the body needs to be painted. It is a Super Comp Altered kit that started out with a Top Fuel Funny car kit and I had purchased a resin body for the project. Was thinking that I need to figure out a paint scheme that I want to go with and paint it once I finish a couple projects that I am Currently working on. Here are some pics of it.... Up Close of Engine detail Side View with all body panels on Rear View
  5. After cutting both pieces off I tapped them back in place to see the gap that I need to lengthen the roof by. I used some evergreen styrene to make the extra length and used Weld-on #3 to glue the roof back together. I added tape to hold the pieces in the position I wanted. After the glue has dried, I will use my dremel to trim the styrene down, then use some sanding sticks and then add Bondo to complete the body work on the roof. Underside of the body so you can see the pieces added.
  6. As I am in the middle of my '06 Magnum wagon project. I have decided to start a 32 Rat Rod project to change gears just a little bit. Here is the start of the project. I am planning on channeling the body over the frame and Chopping the Top. I will probably paint it a Red Oxide primer color. Hopefully you don't mind the many pics in this post. Taping up the body for the chop. Back taping where I will make my cuts The Damage done after cutting the top. Setting the top on the body to see the new look After setting the top on the body I have noticed that I will be making 2 more cuts in the roof to get the front and rear post to match up. Worked on getting the interior tub cut down to fit for the Channeling over the frame. I took out 5/16" from the interior. Then for the seats I am thinking I am going to cut part of the centers out of the bench seat and do some scratch building to make something like an airplane bomber style seat. Then its back to work on the roof to get it back on the body but first I need to split the roof in 2 more places to stretch and make it a tad longer so that all of the posts line up correct. here is a pic of the interior tub tapped together. I am thinking of going with a white or aluminum color for the interior but not sure yet. I first started out with gluing the center post of the roof to the body. Then I figured out where I wanted my cut line at and laid tape down and marked the side that I wanted to cut with a sharpie. First cut on the roof. Second Cut on the roof.
  7. I am fairly new here to this message board and after being away from building models for about 12+ years maybe 14 years. Life got busy once I went away to college way back in '96 and just never found the time to really get back into it like I used to build. Anyway I decided it was time to get back to the hobby that I loved since I was 15. I decided I needed something simple where I wasn't going to do much detail work just to get me back into enjoying building. So I decided to do a magnum wagon after seeing one I really liked down the street from my parents house one day when I was back home. Here are a few pics of what I have done so far..... SRT Magnum Wagon Project Side View Body work almost done. I had removed the molding on the sides and off the hood. The stance with interior in.... gotta get the back to sit a little lower... All body work has been completed and guide coated. Another view of primed and guide coated. The interior is now pretty much completed with the exception of having to glue a few items into place. I have finished blocking the body out for paint and am just waiting on the hardner for the clear. I went and picked up some paint matierials last week and the shop I was getting my paint from got me the wrong harder for my clear and they had to reorder what I wanted. So hopefully sometime this coming week I will be able to squirt some color on the body. when I do I will get some more pics of it to share with you guys. After paint there shouldn't be too much left to complete the build.

Very Cool and looks great!! I like what you did
  9. Very Nice Build Jeff. Love the car and the detail is amazing. Lots of hard work that was worth it. Keep up the great work can't wait to see some more of your builds. I do want to ask you what did you use for your zip ties, I have been trying to figure out the best way to do this my self. In the past I have used wire that was stripped and also cut small strips of electrial tape.
  10. Hey Kevin... Its Chris, ran into you over at George's over thanksgiving I belive. you know I used to be a member of Monterey Bay Scale Auto before I went away to college and then moved to AZ.
