ShawnS Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 Hi Guys, I got one of these little Volvos delivered to me yesterday from HLJ and after a quick look through the sprues it appears to be every bit as good as the BMW M3 kit... BUT...., the tyres are no good. The tyres have one side molded thicker than the other. Here you can see the shape is anything but square. this after the tyre has been fitted to the wheel. Thickness check Luckily the tyres from Scale Productions E30 BBS fit perfectly so that leaves the option to use the kit wheels open. Also the chrome on the wheels isn't all that great with a rough texture on the spokes and the outer rim only the area in between is clean and smooth. So that's something to consider for those looking at buying this kit. Cheers ShawnS
lysleder Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 Hey hey hey!! What about the rest of the kit? No pictures? You are killing me here. Please document the good news as well as the bad.

There is nothing wrong with the tires, that was done on purpose, its the same thing NuNu did with the BMW M6 kit, that is there way of doing the staggered/cambered suspension , you put the thicker side to the outside of the wheel. It will make the top part of the tire/wheel lean inwards. Edited December 29, 2017 by martinfan5

I know Fujimi did almost the same thing with some of their touring car kits in the 90's but instead of making the tyre look awful like Beemax did with this kit they just angled the outside of the wheel rim. It took me a while to get used to how the Fujimi wheel looked but once I assembled a kit it all made sense. 2 hours ago, martinfan5 said: Dont worry, Pheedens Garage will being taking care of that. and could do a better job than any of the photos I could take. Atmobil Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 (edited) Here is the pictures that Hobby Search has on their site: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10504848 I'm exited to see a kit of the 200 series volvos and I want to buy atleast one but I'm not that in to racecars. I instead want to convert it in to the typical rural 18-year olds dream car, something like this one: From this article: http://www.tv2.no/a/8901391/It is about 18 year old May Kristin (sitting on the front of her 1985 Volvo). I have for a long time had a plan on making a small diorama with a typical scene on a typical Friday night in rural Norway. A bunch of youngsters in their cars parked side by side at the local gas station. A Volvo 240 fits in perfectly along with the 700 series from Italeri and a BMW E30 or maybe a E36 (I got both) and I wish I had not sold my Tamiya Sierra XR4i because that could have been converted to a four door hatchback. I also have some other kits that could fit in, Mercedes W201 190E and W124 230E/300E, mk II and III VW Golf and maybe even a mkIII Escort (even if most of them have rusted away a loooong time ago).
