Mr. Horsepower 78 Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 Hey everybody, One of my main projects right now is this CJ-5. It started out as AMT's Dukes of Hazard Daisy's Jeep. The kit represents a late 50s to late 60s Jeep CJ-5. (Pls correct me if I'm wrong) and doesn't get near to the model that was shown on the TV show. But that doesn't matter cuz I never intended to build that Jeep anyways. As far as I know there have been several versions of this kit since it's release and I decided that mine is going to be a '67 that has been rebuild just recently. So all new paint and an couple of other goodies. I did a spring over axle lift but the rest is basically stock. This is where I'm at right now. Thanks for looking
Mr. Horsepower 78 Posted August 14, 2017 Author Posted August 14, 2017 (edited) Looks like a nice project Julian. Looks like a nice project Julian. Looks like a nice project Julian. Thx I enjoy building these old kits The driveshafts had to be lengthened due to the lift Edited August 14, 2017 by Mr. Horsepower 78
Mr. Horsepower 78 Posted August 15, 2017 Author Posted August 15, 2017 (edited) This is what the 4 cylinder engine looks like so far. Still need to add the distributor, carburator and other small details. Currently waiting for parts to arrive in the mail;) Edited August 15, 2017 by Mr. Horsepower 78
mikemodeler Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Nice job so far, like the color and the lift looks great. You are correct that the kit has been around for years, I have an original MPC version of this kit with the V-6 engine and snow plow, and it builds nicely.
Mr. Horsepower 78 Posted August 16, 2017 Author Posted August 16, 2017 Changed the rollbar to a more modern design
Mr. Horsepower 78 Posted August 17, 2017 Author Posted August 17, 2017 Clear coat and flat black inside done. Got the seats, rollbar and spare tire glued on Taillights as well
Mr. Horsepower 78 Posted August 27, 2017 Author Posted August 27, 2017 Hey everybody, got a little more work done on the engine. Oilfilter and carburator still need to be added.
Mr. Horsepower 78 Posted August 29, 2017 Author Posted August 29, 2017 Scratchbuilt this bumper. I'm not going to use it on this build tho, probably for my next CJ-5.
Mr. Horsepower 78 Posted September 29, 2017 Author Posted September 29, 2017 Almost done. Still waiting for the photoetched seatbelt buckles to arrive in the mail and I need to add the battery.
Tom Geiger Posted October 1, 2017 Posted October 1, 2017 (edited) Almost done. Still waiting for the photoetched seatbelt buckles to arrive in the mail and I need to add the battery.Great looking Jeep! If you the photo etched buckles, remember to give them some depth! I see too many in finished models that look like card stock! Edited October 1, 2017 by Tom Geiger
