Joe Thomas Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 I was planning on creating the box art version of the kit. Does anyone know if the white stripe and star decals are opaque enough to prevent the base blue and red colors from bleeding through? Thx in advance, Joe
redneckrigger Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 Not sure about the original factory decals, but modeltruckin makes superb decals that will work. Check them out: http://www.modeltruckin.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_143_24&products_id=769
Ben Posted October 30, 2018 Posted October 30, 2018 They probably are. I would ask Jerry if his have no bleed through. White, kit decals are notorious for bleed through.
Joe Thomas Posted October 30, 2018 Author Posted October 30, 2018 The other alternative would be to mask the stripes and then paint allowing the white plastic to be the stripes. The stars would be a little more complicated unless I can find some in a craft store to use as masks.
Jim B Posted October 30, 2018 Posted October 30, 2018 My (limited) experience with Model Truckin' decals is that the white was slightly opaque and allowed the red to show through on my R685ST. I did purchase those decals a while ago, so things might have changed. If you're concerned about bleed through with white decals, check out Microscale Decals. I used them on my IVECO ladder truck with no bleed through of the red underneath.
Ken Gilkeson Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 you could try 2 sets of decals layered one on top of the other. I have a set I won't be using If you need them let me know.
Joe Thomas Posted November 2, 2018 Author Posted November 2, 2018 Good idea, I still have a set from the original issued kit If they are unusable I'll let you know.
