ewetwo Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 I found these 2 hobby shops that I never knew existed. They advertise as Train Hobby Shops but have more. So I'll post them here in case someone else in the area didn't know about them. The first one is in Schenectady, NY and has quite a collection of model car kits. I'd say 40 - 50 different kits. Prices vary from $24 - $32. Not cheap but I bought a kit today to support the little hobby shops. http://www.mohawkvalleymodelrailroad.com/hobby_shop The second one is outside Amsterdam, NY. They have been there 6 years and are trying to get more auto kits in. But he said it's difficult seeing there are not that many car kit makers anymore. But had a great selection of bottle and canned paints. Styrene strips. He had some nice kits also. At least I won't have to drive to Albany to get building supplies and paints. https://mileposthobbies.com Here is a photo of the some of the kits Mile Post Hobbies had.
plastic trucker Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 You are one lucky dude. The closest one near me is 200 miles away. 400 round trip.

Rob Hall Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 I have found since moving here in June '17 a couple decent ones within an hour or so east of me, one in Willoughby, Ohio and one in Geneva, Ohio. The one in Geneva has a good selection of current kits at competitive prices. I go to Geneva-on-the-Lake and other nearby lake towns once or twice a month or so in the summer and fall, so I've been frequenting that one.

Was shocked the last time I went to Willoughby late this past October how the selection on kits had vanished, still like dealing with Stewart's....if ya don't mind what's the name of the one in Geneva?....Boardman Hobbies in Boardman(naturally) is pretty decent with new kits and supplies.
ewetwo Posted December 20, 2018 Author Posted December 20, 2018 Well they are geared more towards trains and military but had a descent car selection. Mainly the newer kits. But one said if there was something specific I wanted. They would do their best to find it. So nice customer service. I’d rather give them the $30 for a kit rather than give AC Moore the $30. Just thought if there were any other forum members in my area. I’d pas this along.
