Thanks, Patrick - those Humbrol color back in the day were well-suited for brush painting: I brushed them directly onto the colored plastic and you could hardly see any streaks. But as I have learned from some other modelers here they seem to have modified their formula so the paints are no more what they used to be (I still have a few tinlets from the '80s and 90s that are not dried out yet).
