Apocalyptic Harley Davidson Breakout.

I started modeling around 2019 and stopped due to busy life. I’m back in the game, still a newbie and learning. I decided to experiment with a prebuilt Maisto motorcycle before jumping into a kit with more details. I’m also experimenting with some materials for a more realistic pavement (I used acrylic gesso and fish tank sand, then sanded,  colored and weathered). This is my experimental diorama and motorcycle to try to fine tune realism. Thank you all and criticism is welcomed. Keep in mind this is an experimental diorama.

Here are two of the same bikes for comparison. One stock and the other one modified like a bobber. The scale is 1/12.9503670A-4A08-4990-AD26-13E15E12D446.thumb.jpeg.9f84f53af468b1c7cddcf09cd6f244a7.jpeg30413A8A-A311-4440-80F4-8F10C4452639.thumb.jpeg.4bc7825bdf765397426d8d83c2c1f12f.jpegDAEDA496-1586-431B-A061-04A092DE19FC.thumb.jpeg.e02da62f266e779be6b9ab6def5f3bc8.jpeg8051B0BE-F26A-4F1A-B344-021F2BD4757C.thumb.jpeg.6b84470a999d0ac5c7df76c4d13de20b.jpeg512C835D-B63A-4FFF-BE98-42B26F853191.thumb.jpeg.5d4b7d235e7f8c5b340cd69f6f962645.jpeg77E6435F-57B5-4725-9C2E-24FD5AB21609.thumb.jpeg.d4f3f283018a14e0faa309b7e1495cc9.jpeg4AFE2896-477C-4C80-988C-3A60CA291D39.thumb.jpeg.b6d829c053a788f173f52fee192b8f60.jpeg57BD9D41-4001-4984-A025-4CB018FA4978.thumb.jpeg.ed2091cdd9250defc05e72801a47c098.jpegBA56C2E9-8383-4DC1-A84B-6F8613CD6589.thumb.jpeg.8897087c0e25cdaf36e5c54625d3bd60.jpeg1F4F1812-2C26-46E9-8E02-442F2600FBFF.thumb.jpeg.808cd7358863cd2dd476076b2717cfee.jpeg9B2819B4-9906-4ACA-8202-18A7EAA53C86.thumb.jpeg.313e845a43887d4a8bca9c0aef25b8e6.jpeg3A7A5BCA-0845-46A2-BBE7-884125D630EF.jpeg.80da967933cc81487bb965ff5a7e2794.jpeg112378A9-963A-43BC-ADB1-D938ECFA35A7.thumb.jpeg.95e37de3ca884464bb24e6649b78791a.jpegD0240952-70C4-4215-8165-FDEA02622DD7.thumb.jpeg.d6d8c5cf7f0ce93dc48c765b6ce7568c.jpegB065DF68-25D6-45DB-A2BF-3F2102465DB7.jpeg.6d14c1ec095f3304fee2e2b93be2da44.jpeg855C7E19-6AAE-495D-B74A-D2547E7D495F.thumb.jpeg.1da9fbf4d6e638228ee6cf311c714dd6.jpeg2B120A02-9FF3-4124-B5BC-CB53B8CFD6D5.thumb.jpeg.8d5467af872d7da7b2aa58f613185ec9.jpeg

With the exception of the visibility of the ejector pin marks on back of the front forks this a real world looking diorama. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you. This type of models require more time since its not as detailed as the Kits. I ordered a kit, the type you have to put together, to study the details better and use it as reference for the less detailed Maisto motorcycles when I work on them. Thank for the input.

Thank you. It’s very simple to make. Just mix acrylic gesso with sand. You can pick the sand according to scale. Once you mix it and it dries the following day you just sand it, so a wash to the color of your choice and resand it to explode the ballast (rocks). You’ll notice that the road will crack naturally, and you’ll just have to refill the spots if you want a more even road. Other wise live it as it is and add extra damage to the road like I did on this one. I removed extra material carefully. Added a sand wash and road dirt as well as road stains.

Your diorama turned out pretty nice. The base is very well done with the process you used.

Not to be critical, I think you can enhance the look of the bike if you add a throttle and clutch cable. Plus the front and rear brake lines. Most model kits come with the tubing to do this. You may just need to find something that looks close to scale.

Thank you. I agree with you about adding the cables. Unfortunately these Maisto motorcycles are not too detailed and don’t have cables. I’m waiting for the kit to arrive to use it as a reference and enhance this one.

Cool.

What kit are you getting?
