Modlbldr Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Well, I finally finished one to post here. It is a mix of the Revell GT350R and the 2+2 Fastback. Paint is a Duplicolor automotive spray that closely resembles Pontiac engine blue. More photos coming. Later-
Harry P. Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 What's up with that giant gap between the rear window and the roof?
Modlbldr Posted July 8, 2009 Author Posted July 8, 2009 I swapped in the 428 from the AMT 71 Mustang. This was a pretty easy swap only requiring a longer drive shaft and slight extention mods to the exhaust pipes. I added aftermarket velocity stacks. I still need to add the radiator hose. The rear plate was made by cutting a piece of aluminum from a pop can and adding the decal and then a PE frame. I hope you enjoy it and any comments or criticizms welcomed.
Modlbldr Posted July 8, 2009 Author Posted July 8, 2009 Harry- That is the GT350 rear window. I can't stand it. However, when I installed the stock window, I fat fingered it with some glue. I had to use the racing window as a last resort. I guess it was a plexiglass window in the racing versions that allowed for ventilation or something. Later-
Harry P. Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 You could have polished out the glue smear... or made a new window out of clear acetate. Oh well... next time.
RodneyBad Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 Nice looking Mustang. I like the rear window that way. Really cuts down on the wind resistance so ya can race with the widows down I'll have to look at mine. Never notice it. Haven't finished either. LOL...
Harold Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 The GT350-R had a back window like that to pull heat out of the cockpit. Historic precedent.
Modlbldr Posted July 18, 2009 Author Posted July 18, 2009 Thanks for all of the nice comments. I really enjoyed this build and it turned out pretty much the way I envisioned it. Thanks again. Later-
Buildsince93 Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Really nice job I love the color! I think I may have to use that on something one day
