Tommy Kortman Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Well, the 3 week rush build is finished. I was able to take it to my IPMS meeting last night for the Asian themed contest. Some of you may have seen this in progress over "On the Workbench" so here are the completed photos. The number decals were a ... bear to get right. They are in 3 pcs. Luckily, the decals take the setting solution very well. This model was built straight from the box with 1 er rather 4 small exception(s). I used 4 Slixx tire decals. (RF,RR,LF,LR) The kit went together extremely well. Typical Tamiya engineering quality. Please enjoy. Thanks!!
Clay Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Great job on this NSX Tommy, I couldn't handle the decals for these race cars.
Railfreak78 Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 These cars are wicked and beautiful. Nice job on this one!
Chillyb1 Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 I'm curious about the finish. Did you clear over the decals? If so, using what clear?
Bill Eh? Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Your finished NSX looks fantastic. Did you use Micro Set, Micro Sol, or an equivalent to get the decals to look as good as they do? Great work and thanks for posting.
vizio93 Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Nice job man, I have always liked that car. I think I have a RC NSX somewhere. Anyway great work !!!
John Teresi Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Tommy .......this is a very well done build!!!!!........really turned out great........luv looking at this.
Brett Barrow Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Always liked this car, the other NSX's had wild paint schemes that detracted from the car's lines, IMO. I dig all those JGTC/Super GT cars Tamiya's put out over the years.

I used the Tamiya rattle can clear. I love that stuff. It dries quick, and DOESN'T yellow. That's pretty important if your working with white. Second, I used both Micro Set and Micro Sol for getting the decals to settle down. What i usually do is apply the "Set" to the model before I place the decal on the plastic. I think this helps the decal to snuggle in a little better. If I need to get the decal to work in around some surface irregularities, then I will use the Micro Sol. I did this with the door numbers in particular. I also used a hair dryer set on low to really work the decals in.
