alangarber Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 (edited) Here is a small update on the Defiance build. The cab has been shortened, I hope it's close I just went by pics. I also had to convert to a single headlight, put in a rear window and ajust the cab mounts. Lots of filling sanding priming and it got it's pink coat. More comming asa progress is made. Superpeterbilt Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Allright!! I was waiting for this. Keep rollin Alan!
Old Buckaroo Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Off and going ! Alan did you shorten your front axle ? It is too wide for the stock tires let alone the T/M wider ones. Also the 1/1 looks like the front has been narrowed quite a bit. Just building this truck stock needs about 1/32 or 3 mm taken from the center. But since this is an older truck pitch the front brake hubs and thin down the inside of the wheel back if you need more clearance.
alangarber Posted May 31, 2014 Author Posted May 31, 2014 The rims are narrower that I'm using and I found 2 chrome 2 hole bud like hubcaps which narrowes it and ajusts the front
kilrathy10 Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Great start on this one, Man.....Nice color choice....
Petetrucker07 Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Great start, this is gonna be another great build. Cant wait for more!
alangarber Posted June 2, 2014 Author Posted June 2, 2014 (edited) Small update. lots of styrene work to do on this one. One problem I ran into is that no store has a light pink spray paint around here. ">http:// Edited June 2, 2014 by alangarber
Old Buckaroo Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 The only thing I have on my paint rack is Model Master Panther Pink and it looks close to your cab color. Do you have an airbrush ? You can always lighten with white to get closer to the pink you want. Years ago I used "nail polish" for custom colors , they sprayed pretty good after thinning. That is some spectacular styrene work , and it starting to take on the shape of the real one.
alangarber Posted June 2, 2014 Author Posted June 2, 2014 Sean, No airbrush. I'v always used spray cans. Do you know how long it takes for a reply from P&P Resin. I emailed Eric 4 days ago and still no answer. I need those fenders he has to do this.
Tesla Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Alan, I just ordered some items from Eric and the best way to contact him is by phone: 336-998-9592
Old Buckaroo Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Alan - no idea , but I know my email is very unreliable. Half the stuff I send to my son he never gets - so maybe Eric never got it ? I would call the number Dennis supplied. Wow - spray cans might be tough to find. Do you have Home Depot or Lowes ? Perhaps they might have "accent colors"

alangarber Posted June 2, 2014 Author Posted June 2, 2014 That would work But I just checked. No location Near me at all
Petetrucker07 Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 (edited) I have same issues with eric, it was about a month before he contacted me to say the mold for the fenders i ordered is broken. I would call as said above. Eric said some of his email is sent to spam, even replies to sent. The mold for the rf2 fenders is the broken 1 Edited June 2, 2014 by Petetrucker07
alangarber Posted June 2, 2014 Author Posted June 2, 2014 I think I have it covered. Telsa in helping. I need the #RF1 rear fenders so I'm lucky that one isn't broken
alangarber Posted June 4, 2014 Author Posted June 4, 2014 Another little update.Mostly engine work Now I know the intake pipe and the exhaust pipes are not accurate but until I find something better they will have to do. Still lots to do. ">http:// ">http://http://s231.photobucket.com/user/alangarber/media/002-11.jpg.html'>
Superpeterbilt Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Lookin good. Any idea what they hauled this on? Another KW ramp truck by any chance, or a lowboy maybe? And are you going to build a hauler for it?
alangarber Posted June 5, 2014 Author Posted June 5, 2014 Not sure Terry, I don't know if I'll do a hauler for it. I can't get the tires for this one. They are getting too hard to locate.
Petetrucker07 Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Lookin great. This is gonna be another awesome build
Force Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Lookin good. Any idea what they hauled this on? Another KW ramp truck by any chance, or a lowboy maybe? And are you going to build a hauler for it? I don't think Tyrone Malone had a special hauler for the Defiance like the Mama Truck for the Boss Truck, Papa Truck for the Super Boss and Hideout Truck for the Bandag Bandit, I have seen pictures of it hauled on a yellow lowboy trailer together with The Hurricane KW and Smokey Bear Corvette and on another blue lowboy trailer together with The Hurricane KW pulled by a KW W900B Aerodyne.
alangarber Posted June 11, 2014 Author Posted June 11, 2014 Another update. I wasn't happy with some of the work so I did it over and added some paint. My fenders are on the way so then I can pick up the pace when they get here. Lots of work to go yet. ">http://http://s231.photobucket.com/user/alangarber/media/Semi%20Models/DEFIANCE003.jpg.html'>
