Janne Herajärvi Posted October 24, 2009 Author Posted October 24, 2009 So i started this project about week ago, and wanted to share it with you. Here is engine so far. Its going to have more some parts and wires/hoses later. Please tell me what you think
Custom Hearse Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 You're doing a heck of job on it! I like it! The interior is really nicely done. How did you do the wheels gold like that? Keep up the great work on it, I'm a big fan of custom vans!
Janne Herajärvi Posted October 24, 2009 Author Posted October 24, 2009 How did you do the wheels gold like that? Thank you! I just painted centers with Humbrol transparend yellow. Its clear paint number 1322
Custom Hearse Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 Thanks! I have several things I'd like to use it on.
slant6 Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 You gotta put a mattress and a black light in the back of that bad boy!
carchub Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 I hope to do something like this in the future, it looks really good man. I also like the mattress idea, you should do that
Janne Herajärvi Posted October 25, 2009 Author Posted October 25, 2009 Thank you guys! I am still wondering that interior. I want it really pop! Here is some more scrath custom parts and some progress pics before And here is grille before i fixed it little better All comments are welcome
Custom Hearse Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 The grill looks great! And I think the penguin agrees with me!
modelguy( jeff) Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 did this kit not come with a chrome grill i have a few vans and a few more to be build if you want to see pics let me knowit is coming along good like the gold centers on the rims
Janne Herajärvi Posted October 25, 2009 Author Posted October 25, 2009 Thank you both! That penguin is awaiting his couch in back of interior, and he sure wants put some dices to hang near windshield Jeff: Grill was in chrome, but i stripped them off and paint them later with Alclad Sure i want to see pics of your vans!
James Flowers Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 I have always wondered why there is no interior on those van kits? I like what you have done on yours.
Custom Hearse Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 I have always wondered why there is no interior on those van kits? I like what you have done on yours. Yeah, it would've been nice to see a nice custom interior in them. I'm working on my van kit as much as possible. Yours looks great Janne!
Joe Handley Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 I have always wondered why there is no interior on those van kits? I like what you have done on yours. The only one I've seen of those vans that came with the kit was the early 70's issue like the Fire Van that could be built as an ambulance, passenger van, cargo van, or fire chief's van.
Janne Herajärvi Posted October 26, 2009 Author Posted October 26, 2009 Thanks again! Other weard thing on this kit is that it has detailed engine and firewall but hood is not separate part Well its not big deal to make almost whole interior in scracth and then cut hood open and make hinges for it and then add some more little things to get nice model or wait....IS it? But this is one of best looking van kits so ill just have to deal with it
Custom Hearse Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 Same with the 1/20th kit I'm working on... Detailed engine, hood doesn't open. Go figure... The side and rear doors open, but the driver and passenger doors don't either. Well anywho, I'm looking forward to seeing more of yours as you work on it!
Custom Hearse Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 (edited) Any updates Janne? I like what your doing with it! I see you don't like vans Jeff! Those look really good! The Dodge with the big the big window in the side, is that a kit, or did you customize it yourself? It looks like the van from the movie "The Van"... Edited October 27, 2009 by Custom Hearse
kerc Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 A nice way to get the springs with even spacing is to wrap the wire around a wood screw of the appropriate size and thread. Looking good!
BigGary Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 You guys are taking me kicking and screaming back to the 70s. I do like all the s-c-r-a-t-c-h built parts. Now all it needs is an off the wall paint job. Gary
slant6 Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 I have never built a van. But I think I might. There is just so much room for....stuff...ya know, what ever, useless junk is fun.
Rudy Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Hertsi- That is an awesome project. What kit is that? Jeff, I love the ford 4x4 van 2nd from the bottom in your pictures!!!! I am in a wheelchair and have been wanting to build a couple different vans, and scratchbuild some wheelchair lifts for them! Rudy
Janne Herajärvi Posted October 28, 2009 Author Posted October 28, 2009 Thank you guys! Sorry no updates yet, i did some inventory of my modelkits and parts in last 2 days. Van is going to have some nice custom paintjob, but ill have to practice to make it first. So on this week ill make just little things on van and i will paint some scallops in 49 Merc as a practice. NO van does not going to hava scallops Jeff: Your vans look great!! Rudy: This is AMT:s "Nirvana" Custom Chevy Van Modelkit. I will post some progress soon but it is just little teasing then
Janne Herajärvi Posted October 28, 2009 Author Posted October 28, 2009 Here is dash and seat on colors. Ill need to make some fixes for them, but those colors i use for interior Cheers...
Janne Herajärvi Posted November 8, 2009 Author Posted November 8, 2009 Very small update.
