brett Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Some of you may have seen this floating around some of the other forums, but I thought I may as well post it here as well. I know like I need another project, Flashpoint resins body brass chassis/cage and tin work about 4 days work in it so far make sure you're using flux not glue doh
brett Posted May 3, 2013 Author Posted May 3, 2013 starting to make some progress now all the main stuff is done now. now just a lot of tidy up and mounting brackets etc
am73grand Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 WOW!!! I thought it was hard doing these frames with plastic. I can't imagine having to solder it all together. Fantastic work!!!
DrKerry Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 WOW Brett, awesome work with the brass!!!!! You make it look so easy!!
crowe-t Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 (edited) Brett, That's amazing for 4 days of work. It looks like it'll be done in no time. Keep the updates coming. Mike. Edited May 6, 2013 by crowe-t
slusher Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Nice work Brett, you make it look easy. No way l could do that...
brett Posted May 4, 2013 Author Posted May 4, 2013 Thanks guys, Carl its really not that hard, its just a learning curve. Made up the fire bottle, air bottle for the shifters , parachute levers and brackets and fitted sleeve for steering column. Also added the last couple bars at the back and the driveshaft tunnel although it'll cover more gearbox than the driveshaft as it'll be pretty short.. Finished bottles are 7 pieces each plus the lines. bit blurrier than I thought sorry
brett Posted May 5, 2013 Author Posted May 5, 2013 Thanks Dave, Zoomies ! and engine mockup, looks about right I think . Also scratched some seatbelts and hardware, they look a lot better in person than in the pics, I think
crowe-t Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Brett, It looks great mocked-up! What color will this be painted?
TedsModeling Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 A couple of the chassis photos sitting on your bench looked like shots I've seen at R2B2! Good job, Bret. Are the headers brass? They look like metal.
brett Posted May 6, 2013 Author Posted May 6, 2013 thanks guys much appreciated. Micheal, base color will be black, thats all you'll know till its done Ted, wow thats a compliment and a half to me, thanks. The headers are solder. Heres the bits used to make the lower a arms and front struts assembled and in place you might also have noticed the bars that will hold the front clip in place should I be brave enough to cut it off Pretty much all I do is scratch built, I'd love to support some of our aftermarket guys, but at the moment I just cant afford to. The little rings you see in the strut and a arm pics are crimp beads, that just happen to fit (when pressed ) into the tube I have they also fit nicely on the rod I'm using for pins and the strut its self. Really lucked out there.
am73grand Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Just came back to this thread........amazing work!!! I totally understand about the aftermarket stuff. When I built my '58 most of the aftermarket stuff I had been accumulating for years.....it adds up fast!
brett Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 Thanks guys, here's some paint on the nearly rolling frame

brett Posted May 19, 2013 Author Posted May 19, 2013 Thanks guys, been suffering in more ways than one lately, a dose of the cant be bothereds and I cut up some firewood and took my right arm out of action for the last four days ( just chronic pain in shoulder and arm due to inflammation etc). Anyways a little progress four link arms (still to be trimmed to length), with the same hiem joint type setup the front struts have and the wheelie bars
RIC417 Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Brett. Spectacular Build !!!!!! This are a great build in brass looking spectacular
