w451973 Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I tried the search and didn't have much luck. What can I use to strip paint from resin ?
Edsel-Dan Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Since many caster's say to use Wesley's Bleche Whyte to Clean the mold release they also say to use that for paint stripping. Not sure about getting it now though, I read on here that it had been dropped, and maybe had a new name & owner. DO NOT try Brake Fluid. it will Melt resin!!
Roncla Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 X2 on the Brake Fluid. I've had a bad experience with Isopropyl Alcohol too where it turned some resin parts to the consistency of rubber. I've never had a issue Lacquer thinners though. I don't soak the part in a bath of it, just scrub it with a tooth brush and wipe it with a rag.
DON-T2 Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Bleach White is available, it is now under the Black Magic label and is called Bleach White.
Ramfins59 Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 You can use a product called Scalecoat which is safe to use on resin and can be found in well stocked hobby shops.
Kris Morgan Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Contact the caster and I ask them. Some resins will react different than others to some chemicals.
w451973 Posted April 13, 2013 Author Posted April 13, 2013 Thanks for the help. Can I get away with just sparying on the bleachwhite or should I soak it ? It's a body. Thanks Dennis
