Here's my collection so far, Revell 1/25 and the re-issued MPC 1/16 General Lee with modified front wings & smaller AMT Tires.

Revell 1\8 79 Trans Am , used Tamiya TS14 Gloss back, 3 coats, wet sanded & 3 more coats, gently went over the decals with Tamiya gloss clear with a fine brush., whole car then gently polished.

Hi All, Just finished the mighty big scale 79 Trans Am from Revell, always wanted this as a child in 1979 but wasn't allowed it was too young, now 43yrs later l treated myself!. Generally a good kit given its 43yr old design , decals are very crisp and very well detailed, the hood eagle is the wrong colour as I'm sure we've all noticed but l believe there is aftermarket version available in the correct gold colour. They are a challenge to apply and using plenty of micoset soft solution helped, l've also used Tamiya gloss clear gently brushed over the pinstripes and hood eagle to seal them in. Tamiya TS14 gloss black spray used for the bodyshell, 3 coats then wet sanded then 3 more coats applied. Used spacers to bring out the rear wheels as to much inset, bonnet was traditionally warped but managed to get it looking a bit better using hot water technique. Used plastic card to help the dashboard and interior tub sit more securely. Had to thin down the rear spoiler ends both sides as they do stick out to far. Overall l love it, such a huge presence and looks so realistic. If l can get the correct hood and rear pillar decals then ill need to remove the current ones, whats the best method to do this? The 1/16 General Lee was built last year, MPC Re-release, this I had back in 1981 as a 11yrs old kid but it didn't last! Modified the front wheel arch openings to resemble the factory versions, added the door mirror, wipers & used AMT 1/16 tyres from an old 57 Chevy kit. Roof flag is aftermarket I bought years ago & is a bigger size. Great kit despite its lack of details, I would love it if Revell would make 1/16 scale version as the detail would be great. Paint is car spray, flattened & polished.

Look forward to seeing the Roaring Rat updates! Seen it run loads at the Hot Rod Drags at Shakey, great car as are all the gassers in the gasser circus. I'm hoping to start a replica of this 59 Impala, belongs to friend here in the UK, awesome car, running blown BB Chevy, I have the monogram 1/25 kit & even a set identical wheels complete with slicks, just gotta get a Big Block motor & blower to use, thinking the Revell/Monogram 70 3-1 chevell as it has the right scoop intake. Wow, that is a stunning build, really nice indeed, lovely paint & bare metal foil work. I have 59 to build, hopefully as a replica of this one here in the UK, belongs to my friend, blown BBC, runs low 11's possibly 10's on the strip.

Hi Guys, sorry for late reply, thanks again for the nice comments and good to see two other brits on here ! Trying to get stuck in to my other models now, but with Christmas around the corner like next week then myself & my girlfriend will be busy with both my 10yr old son & her 10 daughter who are in hyper excited mode already bless them, great fun though, so yes I hope to put glue to plastic and paint to brush to plastic hopefully over the xmas period, should be the 69 dick landy Charger I started about 2 yrs ago. Hey Darren & Guy, this was my much modified 1973 Rover P6 V8 I restored but sadly has to sell earlier in May this yr, great fun, 3.9 heads, 5 spd manual, Cragar 7x15" alloys, sprayed myself in my single garage in good old cellulose, one day I'll build another in the same style but in B5 Mopar Blue as nod to Mopars! Many thanks for all your great comments guys I remember the original Monogram release way back in 79 with the red decals only! I saw the black that one Yong Iron built a while ago, this gave me inspiration to build this one using the Pro-Touring theme. Next build is too finish the Dick Landy 69 Charger I started a while ago, also staying with 68-69 chargers, I think I'll build one similar to my profile pic, I have two sets of alloys from the Monogram yellow 55 Ford pick up and the orange 69 Camaro, both original releases from 78~79 I think, one set for the 69 in bronze & one set for the black 68 (Profile pic) this is the Bronze version I like, awesome looking car, pic of my small but unbuilt stash of kits sitting in my under stairs cupboard! Many thanks Roy, I try to get all my model cars to have the right stance & decent wheels, I thinks its the make or break of a finished model, yes very pleased with the interior as exposed with the T-Top option. Hi Ben, the decals are with the kit, its the 3-1 version, stock, drag or street,, there's also a set of blue ones as an option, these would look great with a light met blue or silver paint work, equally the gold/bronze I've used would look great with met gold or even black finish paint, I think the factory finish was red & orange, I know my real one had this combo before I repainted it & chose the dark grey/silver graphics, I guess it was an option for these from the factory ? Hi Guys, finally finished this Camaro, gone for the Pro-Touring look with Wheels, Tyres, Seats, Brake rotas, steering wheel & seat decals pinched from Tamiya's 1/24 Porsche 911 GT2 Road version. Paint is Ford Cardinal red from auto rattle can, several coats, wet sanded after 3 coats, 2 further the left & polished. Very pleased with the look, last pic is my real 79 Z28 I sold back in 2002, cheers Damian

Stunning build! Great to see a 1/16 MPC General Lee built how it should be ! I had several originals as a 11 yr old kid when they first made it over here into the UK back in 1981, how I wish I stil had them an unopened as you have! Your build thread was a great inspiration too! Anyway I have the re-release now and like you will be modifing to build it properly and may buy another to build as a standard 69 Charger. You certainly set the standard...Well done, superb model of a great TV Automobile icon and 60's Mopar muscle car. Cheers Damian

Hi Guys, Firstly sorry for my late reply, have not been near my PC over the weekend, secondly WOW ! was not expecting so many really nice replies and comments, big thank you to you all, much appreciated indeed :-) The paint actual colour is Rover Opaline Metallic Green with a laquar top coat. I wasnt sure at first but now seeing the end result, it really does work with the car and the black rear graphics, white/black interior. The rear Cragars are from an after market but cannot think what he brand was called, they did the goodyear polygas tyres with it, about 3pairs of wheels and tires. The front narrow Cragars are from another supplier that came with the narrow tires and wide slicks for which I'll use on my 69 Charger Dick Landy project, there is a thread I've started but yet to finish the model. Anyway heres some pics of the 70 T/A Challenger for Gene and a couple of the Charger. Chees guys, will get some more mopars finished & get em posted! Regards Damian BTW: This is my real english muscle car project, just rebuilt the engine, its 1972 Rover P6 3500 V8, buick engine, I fitted the Cragars, bodywork in Red Cellulose, I painted n prepped two panels at a time in my single garage, labour of love ..I love it!

Hi Jon & Mark Thanks for the nice comments, I'm really pleased with the result, I love the cragars, I'm very particular with getting the wheel/tyre combination & 'right' stance on my model cars, if its wrong then the whole model doesnt look right. The paint is called 'Rover Opaline Green metallic' from my local auto parts store here in the UK, with a clear coat Cheers damian

Hi guys, Just finished this mighty Mopar, Pretty much out of the box ,Paint is from my local auto store here in England called halfords, goes on nice for a spray can, still need to give a final polish. Wheels are traditional Cragar 5 spokes with slicks on the rears for a bit of weekend strip action. I love Mopars, have a 71 Charger, two 69 chargers & a 69 Super Bee yet to build. Cheer Damian.
