  1. Thanks for the info, Jeff.
  2. I picked this up today at my local Hobbytown in Yorktown, VA. It's a bit hard to navigate once you get off of I-264 because it's kinda hidden but be persistent. I found it last year and it's small but it's something to do on an a cool Saturday. Maybe I'll see you there if my wife will give me some cash ?.
  3. Thanks, Bob. (It was the voices ?)
  4. Thanks, David. Sometimes it's best to just let it happen ?
  5. When I selected a drill bit for the cup holder operation the only thing I had to guage it with was a case of coke bottles that came with the '41 Plymouth (?). Since I don't drink that awful poison, I would propose that the cup holders are the perfect size for a 16.9 oz. Aquafina ?.....or a 7 oz. long neck ?
  6. Well, I have colors for El Nomado. I whipped up an interior and I had this can of Tamiya Coral Blue( which,by the way, is a dead ringer for Testor's Turquois) and, I dunno, it seemed right. Anyway, I was looking through a parts box for a console and ran across door panels from the Lindberg "'38 Ford Van" . The Nomad interior door panels were molded in relief so low it was barely visible. There was actually a place marked out for an arm rest but nothing in the instructions to indicate the presence of arm rests in the kit nor was there on the sprue trees. Lindberg to the rescue. I modified them a bit so you could pull the door closed (no handles, solenoids, remember?....oooo....but how do you roll the windows down??...electric windows!.....note to self: gotta make buttons). So....this is how it looks so far, I'll work in some buttons later. the door panels echo the side trim in matte aluminum (it was all I could think of) and the console echoes the bed treatment. Yes the cup holders look too small. Live with it ?. That's it for now, I need to wet-sand the body and do whatever after that so....thanks for looking, grimacing, smirking, etc. Your comments are always welcome. ?
  7. Any chance of getting the front wheels in a bit?
  8. I think the Olds is an excellent choice, Bob.
  9. The merger with ERTL was a very good thing for AMT.
  10. Thanks, David.
  11. That's what happened to me when I looked it over. Instant karma. ?
  12. Thank you, Carl!
  13. Mmmmm......nah. I'm going to stay away from consoles for now. Although....I still need cup holders. ? maybe just a little one between the seats. I'll need buttons for the door solenoids too. ?
  14. Sorry, Dave, that was me trying to be playful with a bad attitude. The tufting is going to be history along with the console. The car has a manual transmission and the console is too high. It doesn't look right. The shift linkage would need to be too long. In reality, this probably wouldn't happen. That shifter needs to be on the floor. The console was a bad idea. The seats will stay, though. The door panels are not well detailed so something needs to be done there. I appreciate your comments and ideas, David. I wasn't really happy with what I had created. Less is more.
  15. Nice work on the seat, Len. I have a seat problem that I need to solve. I hope it works out like yours.
  16. Here's a few pix for those who have not had the pleasure of checking out this kit. The focus is on the way the firewall and the body and the floor pan mate up. So many kits are absent of this level of fitment. It's they way the all should be. Look closely at the way the three components mate up.
  17. Ooooo.....I need to get that shirt for my son. He was a Ritalin junkie. I thought about temperature control for my detached garage but I realized I just don't feel like it. I don't care! It's not important enough to do all that to paint a stupid plastic car. I think I might be evolving. ?
  18. Have you ever seen a muffler like that? I've been under a lot of Fords and I can't say I remember ever seeing a muffler that looked like that. It's bizarre. ?
  19. That bad, huh? I understand, David. We don't want to to offend anyone.
  20. Thanks, Robert. The detail on the chassis is top shelf like a Moebius or the new Revell stuff. It's quite good. The way the glass is located is nice. The firewall is amazing. I'm quite happy with it. Gotta find a color combo but a lot of them are aqua or coral and white. I'm thinking black for the secondary and maybe red or some blue or green for the primary. I'll find a showroom catalog on line.
  21. I was only a first-grader when these were new, David. The only derogatory words I recall was "horse collar". I would sure like to hear the crude stuff ? I can't imagine a front clip swap on a '58 ford. It must have been because the top of the front fenders were rusted out and all they could find in the salvage yard was Edsel clips. The engine was painted by the current owner, David. Thank you.
  22. Thanks. I'm glad you think so, Mike. I don't ?
