  1. what company is dtr? way before my time i'm guessing?
  2. Not going to be the typical dime a dozen wheezy 2.3 turbo its going to be the five oh, v8 powered backed by a world class t-5 "RS" badged
  3. Brown "RS" capri on its own looks mean! will be a v8 rs instead of usual "turbo" rs models
  4. I love the "root beer" color for testors one coat laquers! its a perfect shade of brown for old fords!
  5. awesome work Jason! do you have a scematic of the design of that roll cage? can I use it? lol dunno if I need to ask permission to do so?? just the courteous thing to do I though! I will have to try I've got some extra 99' stuff minus the chassis plate but I do have 2 others complete I could part out! I added the irs rear end to the mpc chassis it fits in perfect with no modding and that chassis plate pretty much fits right in the revel body...... theres a few pics of a dark blue mustang that has the "McLaren" looking front end and hood floating about in many mustang books parked with a red 82' gt usually that what your build reminds me of! awesome dude inspiration for me to get mine finished
  6. yep it sure did have the front diff. and rear axle and the transfer case so i think i may just go that route
  7. I finally found some other reference pictures online other than a sideshot of the car! found a open hatch pic i need to build me a safety bar/ rollcage...... i just don't know how the sides look maybe its a behind the seats one like older dragstrip muscle cars?
  8. i don't know that i could turn a real 1:1 capri into a circle track derby lookin car its sweet but i just couldn't stomach it i very rarely see a capri on the road nowadays i would love to get one..... for now i live my dreams in styrene 1/24 and 1/25 scale!
  9. heres some closeup of the noses of the capri fronts the one in the center is the regular front end without the bottom holes opened up (square holes) the sides are the capri's that I modified with the part that comes in the mpc model foxbody kits 79-84 non svo kits its a front lower facia that looks like the ones found on many capri "rs" cars works out awesome the front of the capri looks so mutch better and sharper with the squared off front fascia vs. the more rounded smaller higher up stock style
  10. couple of updated pics and some additional test fitting this thing is gonna look sinister!
  11. have a pretty good start on this one interior is done for the most part just need to trim off my dressmaker pins for a tilt lever and turn signal stalks on the column and add my pedals and shift cable from the firewall I am going to clearcoat over the decals when final assembly of body is done interior coloring is what I though to be a pretty good combo/ match to the red its hard to see the entire interior of the boxart
  12. Thought these colors were period correct for this mean looking ford box stock for the most part except i'm backing up the slightly modded 302 with a "mad" resin t-56 6 speed manual to replace the old factory aod unit
  13. here are some update pictures got rear clip cut off from gt mpc body to swap to convertible body and the door bottoms chopped off both bodys and am slowly working on getting ready to start swapping parts all pictures were too big to upload will try again later sorry
  14. I know i'm super happy with how my "dually" box turned out i'm just torn weather or not to lift and 4x4 the truck like the box model, or leave it slammed closer to the ground for that street truck look?? decisions decisions
  15. Jeremy jon your right on supposedly capri "flares" are not perfect on the kits either but I let em' ride I just posted a new one to follow as well........... theres a 82? concept convertible revel did pre 83 when ford unveiled the convertible again after a 10 yr. absence I am going to use that as a basis to build a 84 gt 350 anivarsary convertible to go with the hardtop check it out will be fun!
  16. here will be my attempt at building a 84 gt anniversary convertible to go with my hardtop, most mustang kits by revel and monogram are the larger 1/24 scale this off revel convertible is 1/25 same as mpc mustangs it looks to be the "concept" convertible from early 80's (82?) it has custom ground effects and front fascia I will be swapping a lot of the body panels for the regular sheetmetal vs the weird off looking ground effects could I just cut the roof off the gt hatch? probly so but that's too easy and the a pillars are very thin and already bent so cutting out the engine bay of the revel body and swapping panels and body parts will be interesting I think keith marks? makes replica decals so I can get a 2nd set and he also does mustang 2 decals for other projects I want to do...... think it was keith marks that makes muscle car decals? all inquirey welcome
  17. yes the flares are not accurate they share the same body as the "turbo cobra" mustang revel kit and the mercury capri kits not going for 100% accuracy hence the 99 cobra independent rear suspention
  18. got this on a e bay "wrecker lot" it was awesome that the mpc kit came with the box and most of the original parts to build the pickup someone pirated the bed of the super dually and all the probly awesome offroad tires that were originally there replaced by the revel "snaptite" like wrecker kit that has been reissued recently these 6 wheels are pretty nice and I mite use them for the build I just don't know whether to lift the truck and go 4x2 action or leave it low to the ground and make it rear wheel drive only a super fast super nasty 454 big block powered monster like the trucks seen in the cannonball run movies! I made my own "dually bed" by using an old parts box revel 65 chevy truck box and flares...... I simply widened out the flares by adding sheet styrene (seen on bottom view) to widen out the flares for the "dual" rear wheels I honestly feel my bed is more sharp looking than the one on the box art and I made it did I mention the box had the original instructions and the decals too? bonus plus I got a bunch of wrecker stuff this is my first truck post of probly many to come!
  19. that is great trivia freakshow i'm building a second it will be proper hardtop! this current one happens to be t top setup due to the fact that I got it off e-bay for the right price cheap these mpc kits usually are ridiculous expensive someone had started the bodywork and t panel removel (poor job of It as well) that's why I just went with it
  20. i'll try and snap some closeup pics of the nose of the capris that I put the "mustang" lower valence on from the mpc kits has center marchal foglights that gives the capri the "rs" look but yeah the bubble hatch is gonna be hard to make...... not sure what the 85-86 tail lights look like for the capri
  21. I see what your saying I clicked on the picture and it gets bigger to full size...... I see the slight bend in the decal and like you say side mirror looks like it sits low I honestly think its a slight flaw to these old mustang kits..... I think the mirrors are slightly too big for where they are supposed to go....... the car on the box is a photo of the actual vehicle but it is what it is i'm having fun building it I don't see a whole lot of them except the ones people "professionally built" or complete in the box kits for ridiculous on flea bay
  22. don't know how "accurate" the "flares" are on the capri kits by revel, but they are there and capris did distincltly have the flares in the fenders mustangs did not...... the funny thing is the "turbo cobra" mustang kits of the era are based off the exact same tooling just had mustang sail panels and a mustang rear and front clip they shared the same "flared " body which is inaccurate but still cool kits to play with nonetheless! hope this helps sorry to hear the ol capri turned out to be a lemon, must have been a Monday or Friday car off the assembly line lol
  23. attached the wrong first pic heres the notchback reference
  24. this is one of the "very few" reference pics I could find notchback t -top foxbody cars were far and few between my basis for the workings was the "mad" (morgan automotive detail) awesome resin kit by the way of the 79 notchback stang my body had twisted a bit (probly from switching front nose pcs) went with the revell 82'? gt? looking front end from the turbo cobra kits that very same kit also became the donor for the front half of the roof and the a pillars ( the resin ones are very thin, and I cut the front edge of the roof too thin) I epoxy'd all the resin roof components back together and putty'd the assembly and put it back on the revell body and made it a hardtop (originally sunroof) win win situation for both canidates glued the resin 79 nosecone on the revell body and applied the chin spoiler looks good the turbo kits did not have "sail" panels so I am filling those in and seeing what a older fox looks like without them so far pretty clean! by the way I highly recommend the "mad" notchback kit even though I warped mine and couldn't fix it so I am "modding it" and hopefully the shape will hold after all the epoxy and superglue finish drying and I take the interior out from under to paint and detail it! more to come
  25. here are 3 more capri fox bodys one is regular body with the front rs airdam borrowed from mustang kits ( phonetian yellow) the dark brown "rs" is going to be a v-8 "rs" capri I modded the roof with a t-bar from the mpc mustang kits the last is a regular box stock style build that I may add a spoiler to, the fox bodys look too plain with nothing on the hatch very strange actually I think the brown rs is "root beer" one coat laquer the light yellow is model master "ford" phonecian yellow"
