  1. I see a re occuring theme, lots of people work in some way or how in the automotive world lol My job is the same! I've had many jobs. From pizza places, to an uncle sam navy seabee, but my current job is by far the coolest! I fix broken glass(rock chips) saflite glass company nationwide great company this past week got to pull around a 01' zo6 vette that was finished. Awsome! Get to work on and repair lot of cool vehicles
  2. Where is this sms. You minnesotans. Speak of?? I need to go there next time I'm home to good ol' minnesota! Here I sit during cruisin the coast week (my favorite time of year here) in south ms in my minnesota u of m t shirt go gophers lol. Man I wish I had someone closer than bartster 8 hrs away in tx to hang out and share hobby time with lol
  3. Sounds too professional lol and too stretched out, I stick to the simplicity of the hobby wash and dry, remove flash and injector marks, lite prime(on dark colord plastic) then shoot paint ( usually testors one coat laquers) they are pretty and my new best friend! Add extra small details as necessary
  4. Yeah well at least its ramblings about models! So what exactly does annual mean anyway when it comes to model kits?
  5. Some vans are making a comeback but there are tons more I forgot to mention vans lol especially ones like offroad chevy van with dirtbike, mpc ford offroad van, chevy van/w race trailer, a team van!, I've noticed on ebay as well apparently there were more "dukes" of hazzard kits then the current reissues we have 1) general lee(charger) 2) daisy dukes plymouth satelite 3) daisys's jeep 4) and the monoco sheriff car. Online I have also seen a cooters tow truck, and a light blue cooters pickup truck! They need to bring those back too! Man I could think of hundreds of kits from the past that would be awsome if they could come. Back!
  6. Lateley. I give kudos to round 2 for reissueing many old favorites and bringing back some great kits with better tooling less flash and injector marks etc. The coolest has to be pad printed whitewalls and. Drag slicks! So that brings me into what happened to mpc? "Amt" has reissued some old mpc stuff like the off road gmc is simply the "byway "man fall guy truck right? Why have some of the mpc come back to life some even with "mpc" on the boxes ( a gto out there is one sample) but others have not? There were soooooo many mpc kits and they made models of all sorts of cars and trucks back then, chevrolets, vans, dodge full size trucks, the d-50 mini trucks,(awsome offroad radical versions too) datsun trucks, ford couriers( that may have been old amt) the "fox" mustangs from 79-86 the list goes on and on we see where --I'm going I did. Read the post about items won from the revell/ gears. Contest this is awsome that's. What we need to motivate the hobby along with each other. Mpc also used to do "golden wheels" you collected box tolkens mailed them in and got to choose from several. Models you wanted you pick your top 3 first or 2nd choice not available you get your final selection. Model companys. Today need to do something like that! Sure would be awsome. By the way. While I'm. Rambling who or what is "fundimation". They are stamped on about all mpc chassis plates anyone here. Know much about it?? Anyways. Enuff ramnbling - just wanted to know if the seasoned guys here thay have seen a few decades of model kits go by and "mpc" at its heyday know what I'm talking about as far as a lot of kits now are. Rebumps of older stuff some with new toolin and parts but a lot are just hohum same old all the old mpc kits -I've cracked open had large parts. Counts lots of cool graphics and. Decals neat. Box art and were just plain cool anyone agree? List any old favorites
  7. I have a few u.s. Airfix fox mustang kits, those come with dry transfer decal sheets the work pretty well just cut close like with any waterslide and be paitent and take your time results should be pretty good
  8. -I usually use. Testors "clear" but yes it takes forever for it to dry fully and. Clear, -'ve actually lately been holding my windows in place and useing small tacks of hot glue in corners that hold glass quite well is clean, and makes disassembly easier if model is taken apart later on dowm the road
  9. -I had a similar problem when - started off in the navy thank goodness I was a seabee and was never stuck on a ship or boat as soon as I was able. - I bought models. Stocked up and started over with my paints and supplies, my roommates had to just deal with it! Paint and glue fumes ( tried to do most paintwork outside) I missed modeling like crazy while I was in basic training
  10. Think its in progress right now, my stores had kits in buggies, not moved to the center island where discounted kits usuallyv find their way to, the 2nd store had a ton of the 2 part model master. Sparay cans marked down hope there's some left when I get paid again after payin. Rent!
  11. Just figured I would pass this along to my fellow modelers, my local hobby lobbys must be getting ready for upcoming x-mas as it looks as thought they are resetting the entire model kit aisle. Lady said. 40% off of an already marked off 40%sooooo. That's 80% off boys n gals..... I saw good stuff too like the pontiac catalina. Normally a 25 or more $ kit at h.l. For like. 6-7 bucks there were other good ones too along with the ho hum kits wish I didn't have rent coming up I'd buy out the clearence for 6-7$ kits brand new! Thought I'd pass it on and hope its nationwide not just here in south ms
  12. This thread is very interesting, if revell does come out with the. Coupe - I'm going to try my best to make some sail panels for it to make 79-86 versions, right now I've been scooping up all the older mpc fox kits, only able to get one pace car so far have a couple wild breeds ( have ss) molded in the body insted of 5.0 a couple turbo cobras, a couple snake bites, 2 of the gt kits. One anivarsary, one of the red gt, and other various fox kits from revell monogram. - I own a 1985 gt
  13. You do know you can make the kit a manual by simply cutting off the trAnsmission @ the bellhouse, like casey said there are other kits with manual transmissions and wala. 5 speed powered fox stang in 1/25 I too struggle with this autos are junk the old mpc fox kits only came as auto, witch according to my 5.0 book there is some truth and accuracy to. In 79 you could get the toploader 4 speed manual then it all went auto untill 82' and again 4 speed srod, don't think the t- came into play untill 83 year model gt's. Hope this helps
  14. "There was another "member" here who supposedly went through the same thing a month ago. I put member in quotes as he was in the middle of a bunch of trades with about 6-8 members here when his house was broken into. Funny thing is he got all of his stuff from us and he was never heard from again and we were left empty handed." Quoting another member from above the member from a month ago was albert ( he no longer has internet) and is really struggling to recover from hiS breakin/ theft I am one of the many trades pending with him I have been in touch with him and he assures everyonne here on mcm he is good for the trades. He just needs time. He was cleaned out on his robbery case. Sorry to hear this has happened again in a months time. Terrible world its getting to be. I better listen to my wife and move a bunch of my model kit "junk" / kits back to my secure storage unit locked up??
  15. I could always. "Snail mail" you hard copies of the directions... I have a couple different issues of that kits newer and older let me know if u want me to make photo copies and send em to you?
  16. -I personally get a larger bit and drill out the. Center of my dizzy, I then add my 9 wires, or 7, or 5 depending on cylander config. Set my wires down in the hole with glue and let it dry, wala. Pre wired dizzy!

  18. -I got fortunate to get hold of 2 "wild breed " fox mustangs. One. Sealed in plastic box open but complete, the 2nd a glue bomb that is already forming its new life as a unique fox "ss" mustang with a mc laren front end nosejob! The complete kit has the decals, in rough shape, but I cannot afford another kit as they are always. Sky high I got lucky on the 2 I got. The decals look like they have tiny mold spores on them! Can I carefully wipe off the decals to clean the right before I get ready to apply them? Its kinda a one shot deal that's why I seek advice thanks -danny
