  1. Anything not SS really, earlier the better but I'm not picky... Through some searching for a completely unrelated project I found this: http://vcgresin.atspace.com/body.html Looks like they have just what I was looking for! Going to ask first them first but I'm imagining one or the other of them can be adapted to the MPC SS kit.
  2. I just read like 50 pages on using Future... I'm betting a food coloring and Future candy over this stuff would work awesome!
  3. Yea it must be the diecast. They were announced about the same time.
  4. Wow I've got to echo what's been said about the flake, it looks sweet! I've walked by that paint 100 times and passed it up but it looks like it would make a sick flake job on a Gasser! I'm also wondering what it would do under a candy, if it would survive or if the candy coat would be to hot for it. Definitely going to try this out!
  5. I am not 100% certain, but I believe the Warlock was reissued in the mid 90's around when the LRE was reissued? I seem to recall a Blueprinter that touted the availability of both. Perhaps the Warlock was a Blueprinter special like the Fiat dragsters, BTTF trio, and Munsters dragsters. Maybe I'm nuts and it wasn't reissued too. Or maybe it was a 1:18 diecast?
  6. Whoa this is pretty cool. Hope you're still going on it!
  7. I imagine this gets asked about all the time, I searched but couldn't find the answer. Are there any sources for a non-SS front for the MPC SS El Camino?
  8. I think it looks great! Same color as my grandmother's Buick Skylark from the same X body family.
  9. Started a new kit tonight, Revell's GMC Plow Truck. One thing sticks me as not quite right... Living in MN I've seen a lot of plow trucks but I don't know if I've ever seen a short box with a plow. Step one is going to be fixing that! Here's what the box sides look like: The point of no return: I took a few measurements off a real truck but nothing seemed to add up right, so I guessed and decided 1/4" behind the wheel opening and 3/4" before would be close enough. Then I cut some strips off a For Sale sign and stuck them on the back of the bed side to give some rough structure: Then I chopped up some more For Sale sign and started filling the gaps. It's going to take a heck of a lot of putty but I think it might just work.
  10. Oh yea!! Completely forgot about that one, and I wanted to get a '64/65 to put the 4x4 parts from the 84 AMT GMC on anyway.
  11. Thanks for the info! Good idea on the '88+ parts, I'll go through my junkyard and have a look at them. I don't think they used the same cross shaft design, but that could easily be changed with a pice of rod between the bushings. I've got some camaro and S10 parts around, will have a look at those too!
  12. Thanks for the complements! I like the color alot too, It's Testors Inca Gold Lacquer with a couple coats of clear. I debated going green or blue, but I'm glad I did gold. At the Car Craft show in St. Paul this weekend we saw a Nova in the burnout contest with skinny street tires on the back like this, I guess if anyone asks the slicks are back home in the garage and these are for smokin!
  13. I'm wondering if there's a kit out there with decent front suspension parts for a 2wd 70's-80's Chevy/GMC pickup. I recall the Revell/Monogram trucks are all 4x4 except the Hot Rod Chevy Street Pickup, but I think it was a custom I beam? One option I thought might work is the parts from one of the recent Revell or AMT van reissues. Does either of them come with a decent example of A-arms?
  14. Hi folks! I've been browsing around here for a long time, and building models for even longer. Don't build as many as I used to but still manage to do one now and then. There's some mighty fine modeling shown here, figured it was time to join and share some of my own stuff, though it's not as good! Here's my take on Revell's '69 Nova. I started with the COPO kit, and added a vinyl top, slapper bars, shackles, and a few cables. I had originally wanted to use some slightly larger tires on the back, but the ones I ordered didn't show up in time for pictures.. Kind of looks goofy, a little too high in the back and those skinny tires look silly!
