  1. Pretty sure MRC made a set of those....start scanning evilbay.
  2. Looks great - glad you could use the decals!
  3. Not big progress, but better than tossing it back in the box :-) The Fisher kit comes with a nice PE fret that includes the front spoilers and three pieces for the rear spoiler. Because there is little surface area to attach the pieces to the body, I decided to open my options a little by making a one piece rear spoiler from .020" sheet. Also have the front fender vent location and size figured out, but still too chicken to cut this thing up...LOL!! Brian
  4. 'Bout time ya posted
  5. Thanx guys! Sweet lookin' Stang, Bob! How did you get the front down like that?
  6. Ok, knock it off with the big ruler.... LOL!! Great stuff Mark, that looks REAL!
  7. So-Cal Speedshop lives! What is this "Mac-Tac" you mentioned?
  8. Thought I'd share this with the group, I built this over a 3½ day period just before Christmas to give as a gift. Because of the truncated time table, It is box stock sans a new windshield to replace the badly warped kit piece. The interior is Krylon Pewter Grey and Duplicolor Hotrod Grey primer, trimmed with Tamiya TS-29 semi gloss black and TS-30 silver leaf. The exterior is tamiya TS-16 yellow, right over bare plastic and rubbed with Novus #2. All in all, it's a decent kit, I have another in the pile for myself, once I find the parts I need to finish it off. Brian
  9. Nice save!! Good to see it rebuilt instead of ending up in the trash.
  10. Very nice! Looks better than the 1:1, much more finished. BTW, what paint did you use for the interior?
  11. www.cobracolors.com Leon is great to work with, and his paints are top quality!
  12. MFH too rich for my blood..LOL!! I think I am gonna leave the wheels chromed, but give a good black wash between all the spokes and call it a day. I do need to find some Dunlop decals for the tires though.
  13. Nice work!
  14. aww man, that one is just beggin' to be finished!
  15. Nice color choice! Now get it done 8)
  16. PC or Mac, you have to have Adobe Acrobat reader installed to view .pdf files.
  17. That's cool!! You and I took the same approach going over the rear fender with a single piece of wood. I wanted to splice four pieces together, but was afraid it would be too weak and break while finishing.
  18. Speakin of curbsider, I have an Academy Ferrari 250LM and a can of Tamiya TS-08 Italian Red just waitin for a one day thrash session :-)
  19. Nice paint work!
  20. My build of the AMT 289 Cobra is based on Jack Griffith's Cobra, driven by Mark Donohue to victory at the SCCA Nationals AP race at Virginia International Raceway in April, 1964. Most of the suspension has been remade with aluminum tube and parts box goodies, and has been converted to rack and pinion steering. The intake trumpets are made of aluminum tube as per the tutorial I posted in the tips & tricks section. The headlights, windscreen, dash, fuel filler, trunk latch, bonnet latches, steering wheel, mirrors, door latches, upper radiator support, radiator surge tank, and part of the shifter came froma Monogram 427 Cobra. The rollbar and side pipes are made from aluminum tube, and the hood hinge is made from aluminum tube and mild steel wire. The wheels are from Replicas and Miniatures of MD, the tires are from the Revell '70 Torino Cobra. Paint is PPG Ford Viking Blue, the decals were made by Les Smirle of Three Amigos fame. Brian
  21. Alright! Good to see someone else tackle and improve the old AMT Cobra - nice work!
  22. Pretty sure the Sunny kit is a modified knock-off of the AMT 289 Cobra. The AMT Cobra is indeed an early car, and because it's been re-issued so many times, the tooling is tired. Monogram's 1:43 Ultimates Cobra is a far superior, albeit smaller, kit. If you can hang loose for a while, Accurate Miniatures is tooling up an all new, 1:24 FIA/USRRC 289 Cobra.
  23. That is just crazy - very cool!!
