ridinframe replied to ridinframe's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Not much for updates.. I got the body wet sanded and another coat of primer on it I hope to have it painted this weekend. As for any other updates, I'm building door panels or door cards depending what side of the world your reading this from I hope to start working more on the interior this weekend sometime between coats of paint.. -
Gmc syclone?

Thanks guy for all the nice comments.. Beautiful job on your gmc Jonathan -
I've been working on this project for a year or two now it started life as a gmc syclone but has turned into this crazy project... Body dropped, chopped top and I laid the A pillar back to keep a nice shape to the side windows, custom phantom grille, scratch built front bumper, shaved everything, door handles windshield whipers, gas door, tail lights, tailgate.. I added a sunroof, custom cut the hood and molded the rest of the hood into the body.. As for the chassis, it's sorta stock besides the back half which is custom tubed with a scratch build independent rear axle.. I just got back into this project after a few month brake from model building.. I hope to have it done in the next few months...

I'm in need of some 3d printing assistance? I've been working on a 63 ford econoline van that's gonna be a replica of a van called vango. I started with a 60s dodge a100 van and I've made my way to the front end where I'm having some trouble scaling everything and making it all work.. I saw someone working on a 1:18 scale 3d printed ford econoline truck. I was wondering if anyone knows who that might be or can someone point me in a direction so I can get the front end of a ford econoline modeled and printed in 1:24 scale.

I'm currently working on a project that I'm getting very detailed with. I've been into lowriders for 20+ years and the new trend is engraving.. I'm trying to figure out a way to "engrave" a few parts ,control arms, rear axle, etc.. Just wondering if anyone has an idea of how I can get that look?

It's FAR from done. I had hoped to have primer on it but, due to snow and more snow I haven't had a chance to get to the store so I tossed a paint on it I had just to see where I stood. I still have to put tail light buckets in and figure out the highlights, the driver side needs the wheel wells... If I named everything I still have to do you'd still be reading a year from now. Chassis on the other hand is coming together I'll get photos of that up soon... That's all I have to show for now

Got this kit from my nephew over a year ago, haven't really worked on it much since I got it. When I got it, I dropped it to the ground, which entailed a lot more cutting then you'd think.. I notched the rear of the frame and cut the spring pockets on the front of the frame. I cut out the front and the back wheel wells, cut and notched the floor between the rear wheel wells.. I shaved the firewall and frenched in the brake master cylinder.. I also had to lift the trans and drive shaft tunnel.. The rear axle will have a 2 link set up with a pan-hard bar.. I also made airbags for the front and rear.. As for the body, the kit comes pretty custom with shaved door handles and the chop top.. I took out the B pillar and remade the rear fender skirts so the fit better.. I also shaved the rear lights and cut open the trunk.. I've been getting back into this kit over the last week or so, I think I'll probably have it done with in the next month or so..

I know this is probably in the wrong sport but maybe someone can help me. I have a 49 merc I've been building one and off for a year, I was wondering if anyone knows if I can get resin fin back half of a 51 merc or if there is a way to make the fin back half of the 51 merc?

Thanks guys, I decided to spray one more coat of candy green to darken it a little more, it's also cleared and I added a small 442 in gold with some red lips which a smiler to a tattoo I have of a friends lips who passed away. This car is for her, her dream car was a 1969 442... I also changed the wheel since the last post.. I tried to build this "stock" but it just isn't in me I'm a customizer..

Started this project a while ago.. it's a 1969 olds 442 that I picked up from jrherald420.. This thing was every bit of a old glue bomb and I wish I took pictures of it before, but it's getting close to being called done. I cut the font suspension out and replaced it with a revell 70 Buick? front end, rally wheels from a revell 72 442 and everything else came with the car, besides a few parts bumpers headlights and tail lights donated by a few members. The color was gonna be a stock color but I couldn't do it so I laid down a emerald green with candy green over that. The engine is stock just cleaned up, I might pretty it up after seeing this paint job... Other then that I hope to have this thing done In a few days. Hope you guys enjoy

Haven't worked on the econoline in a while thanks to running out of supplies and Christmas taking every bit of extra money, I'm sure we've all been there. Add to all that 5 days snowed in ( thanks to Michigan winters) and helping my mom after she had surgery, I hope to get going on this kit again soon. So if you've been checking the forum or wondering what in the he!!s been taking so long, stick with me guys up dates are coming soon...

Thanks for the insight on the classes, I really have no clue about pro stock, pro mod. I guess I'm going more for the style of cars in these pictures. Jeff lutz 57 chevy or Larry larsons nova both high horse power, tube chassis cars..

I'm hoping someone can help me. I know there are other parts of this forum I could probably go to but I'm not sure where that is. I just recently got my hands on a 69 olds 442 that I'm going to be building as a pro stock, the problem I'm having is the chassis, I know nothing about chassis or chassis building, I'm coming from a world of lowriders and hot rods. This build is going to be an in memory for a friend who passed away and the 69 olds 442 was their dream car. If anyone can point me in some kinda direction on where maybe I could get a chassis or someone could help me build one, I would be grateful.

To anyone keeping an eye on this project, it's still very much in the works. I'm hoping to have it done around February or summer 2014 at the latest. A good amount of body work is finished and I hope to have the rest done and in primer by the end of the month. Ive been in contact with the owner of the real van, coby gewertz and he sent me a very cool package of church stickers a shirt and his personal build book of the van that he made for the grand national roadster show , so I can get all the little details rite which sadly I had to send back lol, I could of looked at that book forever. I'll post update pictures very soon, so keep your eyes peeled.
