  1. Steve I can tell by your Chrysler 300 hood ornament ('66?) in your icon box (or what ever that thing is on the left is called), you like 300s. I picked that up right away. I was kidding around with my little post above about you and your acquisition. That's why I left the little smiley face thing :^) turned side ways at the end of the post. I too love Chrysler 300s. Mainly the letter cars. But I do like the non-letter car up through 1971 also. I even like the 1979 Cordoba 300. The new 300s? They okay. But, they are not the mighty 300s of the letter car era. My favorite 300? The 1960 300F. Ranks in my my ten all time favorite cars. So, I was just kidding around. I'm really glad you got that '64 300 for as cheaply as you did. And I'm sorry to hear the story about your friend killed in the Vega. Scott
  2. Very interesting. Thanks for linking this. I'm no engineer, so I have no real comments. I'd be interested in hearing what experts in the field think about the Duke engine and their claims. To somebody like me, it looks good and makes sense. Scott
  3. Or at least what Archie's car should be. Scott
  4. I went to Revell's web site and looked that the instructions for this kit. Other than the V8 and no top down boot. This could make a very convincing model of Archie's car. Scott
  5. You saw it on road. I think it counts. Very nice. Scott
  6. Again, I've been getting no orange peel since switching lacquer. Scott
  7. Where did you see that Lee? Just because somebody makes a comment that they are surprised that Hobby Lobby got a kit before the regular hobby stores? Or Harry's joke, about it being a miracle? It may not be the best joke. But, I don't see either comment as slam against Christians or Hobby Lobby. Scott
  8. By the way Rick. Tell us about the model. Scott
  9. The wheel lips aren't right! Oh, wait. That only on the Revell kit. And this is MPC. All kidding aside, your Barracuda looks great, Jesse. Scott
  10. Gee, I can't imagine why your so happy about finding an old 300? :^) Scott
  11. Say Ron, and I don't know how to say this without looking like a jerk. But why do post a picture of that Pontiac with every one of your responses? We've seen it already. And we know your proud. You should be. But, please give it a rest. Gees, I hope I'm not being too mean about that. But, it bugs me for some reason. Scott
  12. As I was reading your response Bill, it dawned as I read what I originally wrote, is that I forgot one word that could change the whole meaning of a sentence. I originally wrote, "He said, that they were big deal." It should have read, and now does, "he said, that they were no big deal." At the same time, from looking your response, you seem to have understood my meaning. I've been finding that I do this quite a bit. Forget to put one small, but sometimes important word in a sentence. I sometimes go back days later and find the mistake. Having to edit the posting. I try and re-read everything a couple of times before posting. But, these simple mistakes slip by me. Making me look like an imbecile. So if you guys see that I edit a lot of my posts. Now you know why. You know, I are college edumicated. (And yes I spelled educated wrong as joke.) If anybody is little confused by anything I write, because it looks a little off, please feel free to question or point out the mistake. Again, I'm not the idiot I appear to be. And now you know why professional writers have editors. Scott
  13. Wow! Very, very nice. A good save. Scott
  14. I was not a big fan. But, I'm sorry to hear about it. Scott
  15. Good explanation of the problem with COBRA engine Art. The brazed seams are what would let go with coolants used at the time. Other than that, it was a great little engine. Scott
  16. Sounds like it maybe a pain. I stick with I got. I'm happy with it. Scott
  17. The figures look great. Do they come pre-painted like the first ones? Scott
  18. Hey, I totaled my mom's '75 Mercury Monarch. Thankfully it was not my fault. I was driving up to my folks lake cabin when I was rear ended by a drunk kid. Needless to say, I did not get to the cabin by the time I was suppose to. My mom was mad. She told my dad, "That's the last time I'm letting him (meaning me) borrow the Mercury." Needless to say, that was the last she borrowed me the Mercury! But, when she found out what happened, she wasn't mad at me at all. And I was allowed to drive her cars again in the future. In fact, after my dad died, she'd ask me a lot to drive her places using her car. As I got older, she felt I was the safest driver in the family. Even before dad died, she preferred me behind the wheel. Scott
  19. Wow! I especially like the interior. Very nice. Scott
  20. Cool concept. Scott
  21. Yeh, Jesse, I like everything I've ever seen with Steve McQueen. So I need to check out Wanted Dead or Alive. Great title for a show if nothing else. And Frank, I've been a big old time radio fan for years. I have many, many episodes both on cassette tape and CDs. As far as HULU, isn't there a charge for that? If so, I'll stay with METV and YouTube for my old TV show fix. Like I said I'm a bit on the cheap side. There are other things I'd rather spend my money on. Scott
  22. Yeh, I am debating picking up the Moon Base kit too. I'm willing to bet that I do. Scott
  23. Okay, I don't think this was a bigger seller for AMT. Back in the late 60's or now. I see the reissue, which this kit is built from, is know longer shown on Round 2's web site. It's the Leif Ericson Galactic Cruiser. Designed by Star Trek Enterprise designer Dean Jefferies. But, it's not officially part of the Star Trek universe. AMT had this idea in the late 60's of offering a series of model kits in something they called Strategic Space Command - Space Cadet Series. The idea didn't take off, and this is the only ship offered in that series. Over all I like the design. Besides the instructions in this kit, you also get a Strategic Space Command - Space Cadet story. It is hokey. But, as a kid in the late 60's I would have loved it. There are two changes with the reissue. One is a more complete set of decals. Adding much more detail. Two, the engine in the original version of this kit lit up using old grain-o-wheat bulbs. The reissue substitutes those with LED's for more reliability. And longer lasting performance. I built this kit about a year and a half ago. Spray painted it with Testors flat gray enamel. Then I applied the decals. To make the decals stand out less, I then with a hand brush, applied Testors Model Master Flat Clear Lacquer Finish. As the model ages, I'm not overly happy with results. As you may see the problem in the pictures. One last thing before showing you the model. I really like the design of the little "Vega" scout ship included with this kit. I've always thought it was cool looking. I want one in real life. Scott
  24. Not a big fan of the old TV show Space 1999. But, I always loved the ships, the moon base itself, the space suits, and other props from the series. This is MPC's old Space 1999, Eagle 1 Transporter kit, just reissued recently. If you go searching on the web, you'll find a lot of people out there criticizing this kit. True it's a simple kit. It may not be as accurate as it could be. But, I think it looks dare good. It looks like the Eagle from the TV show to me. I follow a lot of the advice a Mr. Small gives on Round 2's web site for building the kit. Using a plain lead pencil for shading of some of the framing worked really great. It was easy to do. And helped the look of the kit immensely. Scott
