As a automotive detailer a polish and a wax/ sealant are two different things. However many polishes have oils in them to lubricate while the abrasive is cutting. You best bet would be to wash the body in a strong solution of dawn to ensure the oils have been removed as well as any residue. Rob called it, try it on a spoon, this while mitigate a potential trip to the purple pond.

Back when kits when kits were $5, it cost me $10 to fill up my tank. Now I pay about $50 to fill up my Caravan, so if kits are around $25, they're the same cost to me. LOL

Little known fact about Mr. Barris I just learned... he learned the craft early on working with Harry Westergard in Sacremento in the late 30's before he made the trek to L.A. to eventually start out with his brother Sam.

The silhouette is beautiful with the hard top. I know the skirts are very traditional Hirohata style buy the think the front cove scoop of the skirt is fighting with the gorgeous lines you have created that work well with the dog leg from the fender to the door.

Its a nice build, but the black panel lines are cartoony. I think you missed a mold line on the passenger side rear splash pan. That's the obvious things to me you didnt mention. I love the color and other than the flaws you noted the paint looks very nice.

Sort of related, I met Richard Dean Anderson when they where filming for a Stargate movie on the submarine I was stationed on back in 2007. FYI, he didn't like being called mcguyver. Nice guy though

One that's always worked great is a piece of nylon rubber banded around the end of a vacuum hose. Sometimes you'll find parts you never knew were missing..

All the above mentioned plus Tamiya photoetched saw blades. They are spendy but work awesome for scribing and fine cuts.

A challenging kit for sure! Looks great. I know all to well about cleaning all the ejection marks and mold seams. Pretty sure the one doesn't have a lick of chrome on it for that reason. Thank goodness for metalizers and Alclad

BMF is tricky to get the hang of. I am sure I look silly while doing it. One eye closed, head cocked, tongue poking out the corner of my mouth all while holding my breath. Looks good for the first attempt and great on the second attempt.

Never heard of one either. If there were to be a such a thing I would like to see it. Sounds like a phantom what if model. I do know there was a Buick Apollo GSX (based on the Nova platform). But in typical 70's fashion it was a tape stripe and emblem performance model.

Leave us not forget the Buick GS cars.
Pretty sure in the case of the Buick's it was just a model line differentiation moniker. In the case of the late model Corvette is was a special edition based on actual racing history and heritage.

You can buy flocking at crafts stores like Micheals, or A.C. Moore for much cheaper than the little tubes at the LHS. The differences in actual velour flocking and embossing powder give you options IMO depepnding on what type of carpet you are trying to replicate.

Sounds like soft paint. Tread lightly use a very soft high quality micro fiber and apply Meguires No. 7 Glaze to lightly fill the swirls. The glaze has a koalin clay in it that fills lights scratches which is why guys use it on show cars.
