  1. I sure hope they will. I really like the new cars. Cough, even the Toyota looks pretty sharp.
  2. Those are great I wish I could have found that. I can already see some things that should have been done different but its a little too late for that now. Thanks, Joey
  3. Cool thanks. I ended up priming the body last night, mostly to use as a guide coat. I have a little more work to do with the filler until I get it right.
  4. Hey I do need some advice, what do you guys do with the inside of the body? I was thinking either yellow or just primer grey. I'm having a hard time finding any pictures of the 1:1. Also while I'm at it, I'm a little worried about the decals. I've done them before, but I have no idea how old this kit is. It was a gift from a friend. I believe he picked it up on eBay. Do they deteriorate over time or should it be okay? Thanks for the help and kind words, Joey
  5. Here's a little more. Hoping to have the body in primer in the next day or two. Let me know if you get sick of me posting pictures.
  6. Thanks I was hoping it would. It's too cold to spray anything in the garage tonight. But at least I can smooth it up a little. Thanks again, Joey
  7. I just realized there is a Q&A section, sorry I posted this here.
  8. I bought some Bondo glazing putty earlier today to fill a few seems on my 86 NASCAR Monte Carlo. My question is should I apply the filler directly to the plastic or prime it first? Does it even matter? This is just the basic putty it's not the two part. I wanted two part but couldn't find it. I think I'll be ok though these are really small areas I'm working with. Thanks, Joey
  9. Very nice, I forgot he ever drove a Chevrolet.
  10. Looks good to me. I really want to do a mustang next. Nice work.
  11. Thanks I'm having a good time with it. I like building race cars a lot. I may take a break after this one and do a muscle car before I tackle the Pontiac. (Too much Barret-Jackson this week is making me want to do a mustang or chevelle)
  12. A little more done tonight, had a few issues with the passenger side cage not fitting well. Should have a little more done tomorrow. I did get the nose glued to the body as seen in the background. I still need to get some filler so I can do a little body work and get some primer on it.
  13. Thanks! One of my favorite kits ever was a 1998 Earnhardt car, may have been my best build when I was younger. It got crushed in a move, I'd like to do another one again.
  14. This is my first build in over 10 years. I jut thought I'd share some pictures and also use this thread to keep track of my progress. Also I will apologize in advance, I'm not going into a whole lot of detail with this one since I'm just getting my feet wet again. And finally here is my workspace. Just a corner of my work bench out in the garage. It gets the job done for now. Thanks for looking, I'll post more as I get further along.
  15. Here's the engine almost completed, still have a little touch up to do and put the breathers on the valve cover. Here is the primered chassis, nothing exciting yet- And finally the painted chassis, should be about done drying as I type this- As you can see my current paint booth is the top half of the box the kit came in. BTW, these pictures are of the Monte Carlo. I wish I'd have started with the Pontiac first to practice on but it's going fairly well so far. I'm a little nervous about painting the body, I've never done a two tone before. Ill post more when I can, and thank you all for the welcome.
  16. Hey everybody I just wanted to drop in and say hey. I've just recently, a couple days ago actually, started building models again. I loved building them when I was around 12-15 or so but once I got my drivers license they kind of went to the back burner. I'm now 28, and have kids of my own. I had mentioned something that I wanted to build another kit a while back. A friend of mine got me a Revell kit, an 81 Grand Prix and an 86 Monte Carlo Aero-coupe. They are both #3 Dale Earnhardt cars (my favorite driver since I was about 3 or 4). It was a great gift and I was excited to get started. Well we had our second child a short time after that so I didn't ever start on it and it got put on a shelf in the garage. I cleaned the garage out this past weekend and saw that box. Monday after work I stopped at Hobby Lobby and picked up some supplies and started on it that night. I've been working on it every night after work so far and I forgot how much I enjoy doing this. I'm not great at it, but it's starting to come back. I remember the smell of that testor's paint and glue like it was yesterday. Anyway, sorry I got a little long there, just excited to find a forum to share my passion with others. Joey
  17. Looks great I can't wait to see more. Joey
