  1. Excellent build. My very first car was a '60 Phoenix only it was a four door sedan. Your attention to detail is very good. The only "niggle" I can see is, I believe, the dash mounted rear view mirror was a dull silver, not black.
  2. Looks great. You are often too critical of yourself. The ONLY thing that jumps out at me is the angle of the steering wheel. In the '50's the wheel was almost vertical. Was this built into the model? Is it something that can be changed?
  3. Hey Everyone, if you click on the photobucket icon the picture WILL come up and you can see the usual superior job that has been done.
  4. Outstanding, as usual !! I do believe the early GM windshield washer systems worked by vacuum. The one in my '56 Olds, I believe, was Tee'd off of the dual action fuel pump on the line that went to the wiper motor.
  5. As to the torque-tube chassis, JoHan wasn't always well known for their accuracy. Most, if not all, of their two door hardtop kits and promos used the interior bucket from a convertible. I guess it was easier, and cheaper, to use for both models even if it was wrong for the hardtops. I imagine the same can be said for the chassis. They probably did a '66 Marlin, Classic or Ambassador and just continued to use it for The Machine.
  6. Sometimes you can pick up a promo model off of eBay at a reasonable price. That's what I did for the model Ramfins built for me. On all the Rambler American kits and promo models I've seen from Jo-Han they based them all on the convertible which makes the rear seat area on the hardtops WRONG.
  7. Very nice build. Besides the missing stainless trim on the quarter panel mentioned by tbill, the panel right above the rear bumper should not be chrome. It was body color on the Biscaynes.
  8. What's "oddball" about an Ambassador? This is an excellent rendering of a beautiful vehicle. We in The Wonderful World of AMC prefer "Dare to be Different" as our motto.
  9. Excuse me, but I was not being smug about it. My info source was the 3rd Edition of the Standard Catalog of American Cars 1946-1975 and 50 years of driving. That being said I will now admit I was WRONG. The Del Ray seems to have been a trim package within the 210 series. It provided carpeting and all vinyl upholstery in place of the rubber floor mats and vinyl/cloth seats.
  10. Very nice build BUT there's no such thing as a '56 Del Ray. The Del Ray didn't come out until '58. Chevy in '56 were the 150, the 210 and the Bel Air
  11. Very nice but does that big honkin' V8 start with that 6 volt battery??
  12. The "X" package on the Hornet was NOT available on the 2dr sedan, ONLY on the Hatchback. Back in the day I bought a brandy-new '74 Hornet X in dark blue with a black interior. Wish I still had it.
  13. There have been several 1:1's built. There was one on eBay about two years ago. Don't know if it ever sold. The model is very well done.
  14. Very nice but why no BMF on windshield or vent window moldings??
  15. Extremely well done !! Only little mistake is that the spark plug wires went UNDER the plates on top of the valve covers.
  16. I will agree with everyone else and state while the quality of your models is GREAT the mismatched hoods should be changed. What no one else seem to pick up on is that the Corvette was introduced in 1953 and was available only in white. The first V-8 Corvette was 1955.
  17. Another "Piece of Perfection". All of "Mother Mopar's" cars had the dash mounted rear view mirror into the early '60's. My '60 Dodge Dart Phoenix had one and I hated it. A quick trip to the closest junk yard (that's what they were called back then) got me a new roof mounted mirror. Keep those wheels rolling.
  18. But, Rich !!! Where's the love for the Ramblers??
  19. Very nice but wasn't the convertible called the "Sunliner" and the hardtop was the "Starliner"??
  20. As Curley used to say it's now "Poi-fect" Nyuk ! Nyuk !
  21. Even if they were the same scale I don't think the Chevy roof would work since the Olds had a 4" longer wheelbase than the Chevy which would make the roof too short. If this Olds is a 98 model then the wheelbase would be 8" longer than the Chevy. This model looks just fine the way it is.
  22. There was a 1:1 on eBay not too long ago. I think it was done in red. Don't remember where it was selling from or if it sold. I'm sure more than one person has actually made a real one.
  23. From what I understand "Mother Chrysler" owns the rights to AMC and won't give permission for new kits. Offers were made to pay any fees they wanted and the offers were ignored. So, it's not the model companies who are to blame
  24. You're going to have to lengthen the car if you want it "stock". The Olds had a wheelbase of 122" and the Chevy was 115".
