  1. Walt, The Tor-MEAN-o is finally looking great! Don't feel bad. My latest, this '62 Bel Air gave me a friggin FIT! It was painted, stripped and repainted no less than three times before I finally settled at this...... Keep up the good work (and the fight!), Mike
  2. Here's how I built MY Revell S&M GTX..... LOVE those '67 GTX kits! Mike
  3. Come on guys, some of you are sweating the correct/incorrect roofline a bit much. The '66 Imp kit looks just fine as is, and is a welcome addition to the fine Revell line-up. Truth be told, I massage the lines and proportions on just about every kit I build, and no one seems to notice. Guess that's the idea, right?....tweak what bugs you, make it your own, correct perceived imperfections, etc. Not one of us builds a perfect model, even though many may think they do. .....and then we wonder why kit manufacturers are hesitant to release brand new tools. Guys, a '66 Impala??!! How long have we waited?? Revell did a fine job. Buy them up, build them up, show them off, and let's encourage Revell (and....ahem...everyone else) to release some MORE new tools! Just my 2 cents. Mike
  4. 1/24? I thought they were 1/25 scale. Now you've got me wondering....I'm on my way downstairs to have a look! Mike
  5. CONGRATS ALEX! I'm proud of you. The competition was stiff! Dad
  6. EXCELLENT! Thanks for snapping and posting the pics. I know how time consuming it is. Your NNL East 2010 photo album is the nicest and most complete of all. I didn't have the time to see each and every model on display (too much to see in one day!), and it's great to be able to sit here, the day after the show, and look at the pics from the comfort of my sofa! AWESOME. Mike
  7. Looks great so far! I'm a big fan of the mild Kustom look, as you can tell from my own '62 bubble top finished recently........ Mike
  8. Looking at my Torino kit, I'm thinking that paint film will be enough to close the gap between the fenders and hood. I wonder how much variation there is between these kits.....different releases, etc.? Mike
  9. That should look awesome. Looking forward to seeing the finished product! Mike
  10. Thanks. Alex is the reason I started building again. I guess he was 9, maybe 10 years old when he walked in and pointed at my unbuilt kits on shelves in the basement, and said, "Dad, we should build those!". So we are! Mike
  11. LOVE that shade of green on that car. I built an old AMT '72 Chevelle in that color......I think it was Testor's Model Master British Racing Green, if I recall. Mike
  12. One of my all-time favorite dream rides. You did an AWESOME job on that '68! Mike
  13. Here ya go, guys. Here are a few pics of Alex (CheaterSlick) spraying his FIRST fade paint job!.....the 'Zombie' Two Much dragster shown in the pics in the original post. Minutes before these pics were taken, he said, "But dad, I can't spray a fade!!"...... Needless to say, he's a quick learner..... Mike
  14. This was Alex's second fade paint job! His first was a Two Much dragster, shown in another Under Glass thread......I'm posting a pic of him spraying it on that thread. Mike (Dad)
  15. Alex, wasn't that House of Kolor Oriental Blue?? We need to remember to get some more of that from the Black Gold guys when we go to the NNL East! Mike
  16. Alex, isn't that the bike that came with the AMT Riviera kit?? Mike
  17. Pics looks great so far, Walt. And, yes, you're right about Alex. He has jumped head-long into model building, and he's getting better and better by the kit. What impresses me the most is that he's starting to get really creative, thinking outside the box, and starting to whittle on the plastic a bit, making things look the way HE wants it to. He still gets a little impatient at times, and hurries to get finished. But it's only because HE'S excited. How can you knock a 13 year-old for that??!! Besides that, he's the only 13 year-old that I know that's actually building models! Sad, but true. .....And thanks for encouraging him. He's hooked on this Forum, just like I knew he'd be. Alex is a good kid, and I'm proud of him and all he does. You guys are really making his day by taking time to comment on his builds. He's on top of the world. Mike
  18. Walt, I have one of these that I've been dying to start. You've got my attention. Mike
  19. NICE! Mike
  20. Thanks. The wheels are chrome plated resin from Modelhaus, as are the tires. LOVE the Modelhaus stuff. I'll definitely be scavenging some chrome reverse steelies from the Merc kits though. I bought a few of those just for the extra parts! Mike
  21. Looks great Alex. Now go get those plug wires installed! Proud dad PS: welcome to the Forum. These guys will love seeing some of your models.
  22. Thanks for the compliments, guys. I've always been a 'big car' fan, especially when they're dressed up a bit. I built the Bel Air to compliment my '63 Galaxie that I built a few years back......I guess I just dig the 'look'........ Thanks for looking!, Mike
  23. Thanks John. Yes, I am a MAMA member. I'm also in the CPMCC - Central Pennsylvania Model car Club. Great folks/builders in both clubs! Mike
  24. Sam, I think you'll REALLY like the new Revell '57 Bel Air Sedan.....just picked one up. NICE!, and it comes with a back seat! .... The new Revell '57 Bel Air Sedan Mike
  25. SO nice! I like everything about that '57! I just picked up a few of those kits at Michael's Arts & Crafts with some 60% off coupons. You've inspired me to crack into one! Mike
