Hey, now that's not a bad idea. How do you think that would look with a black interior?

Thanks everyone. What do you think is a good engine color for this one? Right now I'm going with red. I think if the engine is the same color as the body, it'd be too much of it.

Thanks Carl. It's just a rattlecan spray paint with one coat so far. Kind of a neat metallic paint though.

I've only made 3 kits this year and I'm only really happy with one of them ( http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=89942#entry1188849 )so I thought I'd give the Stacey David Rat Roaster a try. For this build I'll stick with kit tires and rims. I'm not real happy with the resin bomber seats I ordered for this build, so I'll stick with the kit seats, too. Here is the color I chose for the body. It's a radically different direction for me as I usually make my cars in flat colors because I'm not that great at nice, glossy paint jobs. I decided the metal interior should have the same color as the body. I drilled the holes out that had the goofy upholstery. I will mask off and paint the upholstered door panels black after a few days of drying. I decided I'd keep the firewall the same as the body color too (I never do this). This decision was based on looking at 1:1 cars in several issues of Rod & Custom magazine. The rest of the body parts have been painted the same color. I'm going for a different look this time and we'll see how it goes.

Looking great! I like the yellow, too. My '97 GTI VR6 Drivers Edition was yellow, Ginster Yellow they called it. I can't even remember when the last time I saw a 1:1 Corrado like that. They must not have made many of those.

Nice work! I loved that kit.

Great looking model! Ever heard the Stray Cats song Rev It Up And Go? It's about a '39 Ford... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPtZzETaMMg

No, I had to buy resin ones from CSA. Would have been nice if it had come with some.

That's what I'd like to do with mine as well, Bernard. Yours looks great. Not sure mine are looking that great though. It's tough to get that longer hole to look right. I might need to drill them out with one size larger drill bit.

Starting work on Stacey David's Rat Roaster, but want to do it a little differently. Instead of having a more "luxury" rod, I wanted more of a "rougher" feel. The idea was the drill out the holes that had upholstery and leave them as just holes (less weight is better, that's why there are holes in bomber seats, right?). But it seems like a daunting task, to get the hole started you need to be very exact. So I ordered these cast bomber seats (by member suggestion) and I'm not sure if I'm happy with them. What do you guys think? I started the center areas on both, but kept on trimming with a small drill bit on the one on the right. How I'd like them to look.

First Completed Build in Over 50 Years - 1961 Falcon Ranchero

Looks great! -
I like it better as a regular car than I do the police car. Nice!

Found this at the flea market this weekend, still sealed. An MPC Dick Trickle Mustang Super Stocker. I'm not into stock cars, but maybe there's some parts material in it I can use on other things.

The first car - A foray into manhood.

Nice GTI, man. Most of those MK2 GTI's are either in the hands of guys that have restored them or in the junkyard because they were wrecked when racing. I've had two of that model year, a white one and a black one. Next car was a '97 GTI VR6 Drivers Edition in Ginster Yellow. Newest one is an '08 GTI. Watch out for the heater core...car is virtually built around it. Congrats! -
What color did you sue for the interior? Man that looks nice!

Philco P22 1/24 '66 Mustang Radio
gwolf replied to gwolf's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
For those that have these promo car old radios, check the batteries. In the early 60's they made 9 volt batteries that were the same shape and size as today's AA batteries, which are only 1.5 volts. I made this mistake/discovery recently with an old pocket transistor radio. -
I saw this come up on evilBay the other day and thought it was neat. Not everyone has seen these before. It's a Philco model P22 1/24 scale '66 Mustang Fastback AM Radio. I'm guessing a promo for either Philco dealers or more likely Ford dealers. I wonder who made the mold? I've never seen a 1/24 scale mustang from that year, usually they've been AMT's and 1/25. Anyway, neat stuff.

Based on the shot from the rear quarter panel view that is the best rust job I've ever seen. If that build dropped on my lap by magic, I'd rat rod it. New big and little tires and steelies, a Mexican blanket and I'd call it done. Curious what else you have planned.

Idea of a derby car sounds great. I've found that a big glob of tube cement will soften up door panels enough to push an object into them.

Wow, that looks great! I could never pull off a two tone paint job like that. I love the roof rack!

Wow, I've never seen that kit before either. Looks like that will build up nicely.
